And he still doesn't get it!
"There was no consideration during this entire process as to the merits of the allegations made against me, no consideration or examination of even the complaints made in Sweden."

Re: Wikileaks -OMIFGOD, lots of drama (Update: Site now on a Swiss domain)

I still think that there is something strange about Assange, something I don't trust:

Quote:
In the latest issue of the satirical magazine, Hislop writes that Assange called him on 16 February to complain about an article on Israel Shamir, a WikiLeaks associate in Russia who has denied the Holocaust and has published a string of antisemitic articles."He said that I and Private Eye should be ashamed of ourselves for joining in the international conspiracy to smear WikiLeaks," Hislop writes. "The piece was an obvious attempt to deprive him and his organisation of Jewish support and donations, he said angrily, and he knew perfectly well who had written it. He then named a Fleet Street hack who had nothing to do with it."
Hislop adds that Assange went on to claim that Private Eye was "part of a conspiracy led by the Guardian which included journalist David Leigh, editor Alan Rusbridger and John Kampfner from Index on Censorship – all of whom 'are Jewish'".
"I pointed out that Rusbridger is not actually Jewish, but Assange insisted that he was 'sort of Jewish' because he was related to David Leigh (they are brothers-in-law)," writes Hislop.
"When I doubted whether his Jewish conspiracy would stand up against the facts, Assange suddenly conceded the point. 'Forget the Jewish thing'."

I know this thread is a little old, but if any of you are interested, Frontline a documentary producer for PBS, a US public television station, has aired a documentary on Bradley Manning, Julian Assange and Wikileaks. It is mainly a rehash of old information, however, I like watching Frontline and many of their other documentaries are very good, so I wanted to share it with this forum. The full documentary can be viewed by accessing the following link: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/wikileaks/

Re: Wikileaks -OMIFGOD, lots of drama (Update: Site now on a Swiss domain)

They just released the Spy Files:

http://wikileaks.org/The-Spyfiles-The-Map.html

They reveal the activities of about 160 companies in 25 countries that develop technologies to allow the tracking and monitoring of individuals by their mobile phones, email accounts and internet browsing histories.

"Today we release over 287 files documenting the reality of the international mass surveillance industry - an industry which now sells equipment to dictators and democracies alike in order to intercept entire populations," Assange told reporters in London on Thursday.

Bumping this thread: The fearless warrior for freedom of information now has a program on Russia Today (A Kremlin propaganda station). his first interviewee is Hizuballah's Nasrallah - direct from his hiding hole who is still supporting Assad.

Assange is to freedom of speech what Breivik is to political activism.

Just like Assange.
Quote:
Assange's unauthorised autobiography
Friends are always letting him down. His memoir is packed full of former friends who then become enemies. The word “enemies” is peppered throughout. It even pops up in the second sentence. The first sentence deals with his birth, and the second reads: “One day I would meet my enemies and they would hate me for wanting the truth.” ...
Assange treats his own birth and childhood with great reverence. All his description lacks is three wise men and the full complement of shepherds. His grandmother “remembers my sense of dreamy wonderment” while, as a baby, he himself “just breathed curiosity”.
“My first word was ‘Why?’” he recalls. “It was also my favourite.” Could this really be true? I suppose we must take his word for it, but it seems more likely that it was a mis-hearing of “whaaaargh!”
His mother takes up with Brett Assange, “a travelling theatre guy”, who gives his surname to Julian - his real name is Julian Shipton. This is less dashing than Julian Assange, and much less dashing than Julian D’Assange, which was the name a former colleague (now, needless to say, enemy) revealed Julian used to have on his business card.

Quote:
The young Julian enjoys using a magnifying glass to set fire to ants. He spends his childhood on the move. He attends “well over” 30 different schools, which works out at roughly a new school every term. Can this be true? At one of them, he confronts an “obnoxious little girl who wouldn’t share her scooter ... In accordance with the school’s philosophy, I decided to express myself without hindrance, so I hit the girl over the head with a hammer. This caused a giant fuss, of course, and I had to leave, although the girl was fine.”...
Hacked off: Assange moans about unofficial "autobiography"
