He is NOT USA-born, so that the obvious aspiration is blocked, BUT
- he can become a writer
- he can become a film-producer
- he can become a professor at a university
- he can become a producer of healthy food

Just to be clear, he is "stepping down" because he was not reelected, a point of confusion which the title of this thread did nothing to clarify. Or maybe it is just getting too late for me.

Thanks for clarifying. Had wondered if that was why . . .

Not a fan of his acting so am hoping he does not return to it in any way, shape or form

Ran into him once in a shop on Rodeo Drive. Recognized the voice before even having set eyes on him. No surprises there!

Correct. Even more precisely, he was actually termed out and couldn't run for re-election

From today's San Francisco Chronicle:
Quote:
The Terminator always said he'd be back.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is sifting through a stack of corporate, Hollywood and real estate offers as the celebrity politician nears an inevitable career crossroad: On Monday, he's out of a job.

His next act? After seven years in Sacramento, the former strongman and film star will by his own account hit the speech circuit, keep a hand in political activism and possibly write the autobiography that publishers have wanted him to do for years.

He has an approval rating of 22% - I don't think anyone cares that his period as Govenor has ended

He has been re-elected and now has met the constitutional limit, as outlined here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Term_li...al_term_limits
and here the details about Mr Schwarzenegger
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Schwarzenegger
which shows that he has no HAD his 2nd term, and by the rules of California cannot return to this post later on

Re: Hasta la Vista: Arnie quits as California governor

I think, he could have done well - if California wasn't a democracy with elections and all that. He's the prototype of a "benevolent dictator", the proverbial "strong man" that people on this and that side of the atlantic more or less secretly yearn for.
But in a political climate where it's OK for people to just be against something without any valid reason or reasoning, every "hopeful" candidate has to fail.

I also think he will be mostly remembered for his films - his political career is a side-note.
But let's face it, the US had bigger idiots in higher positions - at least, he was quite open and not overly ideological (if you ignore his position on capital punishment for a moment...)

Off with his head! You can just see the cops working out how to arrest him:

- Err, why don't you take him down?
- I'm on break. Want me to get you a doughnut?
- Hey, isn't that guy jaywalking over there?
