Earthquake hits Northern England, near Leeds - 3.7 magnitude

It said the quake struck shortly after 9pm local time about 45km north of Sheffield, 55km east-northeast of Manchester and 270km north-northwest of London at a depth of 10km.

Sky News reported it was felt by people living in Cumbria, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

The tremor was the second to hit England in the space of a few weeks.

Last month, the British Geological Survey reported an earthquake of 3.5 magnitude hit in Coniston in the Lake District, Sky said.

Re: Earthquake hits Northern England, near Leeds - 3.7 magnitude

Ow the tragedy, the horror.., first the snow cuts of parts of the country, now an earthquake..when will it stop !

Funny to hear how the guy says in the most normal way " oh sure we have earhquakes here every year " just to say that Sky News was blowing this thing up more then what it was

Face it people, we are doomed anyway, if not by floodings ,then earthquakes.

If one thing we have learned from the movie 2012 is that we ( living in CH) are fine, as Switzerland has bunkers.

(never seen the movie but people who have keep telling me that next year they want to move in as we came out alive )

3.5! Oh noe! Grew up on the Pacific Rim. They didn't even wake me up if it wasn't at least a 6. Maybe this is like 'Oh noe! Three inches of snow!'

Want to borrow my sarcasm sign? feel free

Sky News always over reacts..bit like a Belgian channel called "vtm".. from small things they make an f'n drama..

" today the funeral of xx found place, they reported at least one dead "..

You have to fill air time with something, all better then " farmer trips over rock and stumbles to the ground ".. sucks to be a news reporter on days like these when nothing happens.. but fair play to Sky to devote 5 minutes on it..well done !

Looking at this map, in the last three months, Switzerland has experienced loads of earthquakes
