Gabrielle Giffords, a democratic congresswoman from Arizona, was just killed by a point blank shot to the head. Another 6 (possibly 12) people were also killed.

wow! she was involved with immigration issues in the state that passed a law to check residents' documentations for legality and legitimacy of their status... Must be one of the drug cartels

i am much more tempted to put the blame on palin's stupid and harmful tactics and the ridiculous power that it has over right wing wackos than a drug cartel, but i am very curious to have more info on the motive, etc.

a truly sad event regardless of political views, esp sad knowing it was, i believe, her first event since the previous attempt at violence.

I have no idea how Palin became a so-called politician...she has the charisma of a failed mom and the appearance of a mean, and a conniving evil neighbour -the one we all watch out from.

Giffords' is still alive and in surgery. She was shot point blank in the head. There are others from the shooting also in surgery.

There is a man in custody.

So, just to take all subtlety out of this thread, are you (any of you) proposing that because Sarah Palin used crosshairs to indicate which political races she wanted to win (i.e. "target"), she has therefore incited this nut to violence?

I guess the crime's motive could to be:
- Increased federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research
- Pro-choice, with a 100% rating from NARAL

A public statement from the doctor.

10 patients in the hospital. One of those have died. Five are in critical condition. The rest are in stable condition.

Giffords' condition is critical but her survival looks promising.

It's a sad day for US politics.

One child died from the shots. All my prayers are with the family.
