Re: Egypt- "Jan25_ Day of revolution"

Pashosh, I was sure that you had a post saying something along the lines of it was by no means decided that Muburak's chances were over, It was more than 'it's not over till it's over', now I can't find it- I was waiting till this moment to comment on it. Also I can't find the posts on the Palestine- Israel thread about the Egyptian book that you were reading. I would be very interested to know how that book relates to the present situation if at all. I've forgotten the name of the book- please let us know

I don't know what Mubarak expected from his speech... That people will be like:

-Awwww! Ok, so let's go home now and wait and see...

I compare it to a failed strip-tease show: at each speech he gives away something, without understanding that the climax of the show is him leaving the stage.

Amr Mpussa just announced that he will seriously consider representing Egypt politically in the next few weeks.

I fear that exactly this is what he expected ! And this is why I said that he is out-of-touch, and very seriously so

Why Jeddah or Riyadh ? Suzanne Mubarak is from Cardiff/Wales, and so, the presidential couple from Egypt will possibly settle down in Southern Wales. It is known that the General is on splendid terms with the family of his wife, and likes Cardiff.
No not southern wales, he said Egypt

Amr Moussa is the thinking man's choice, however his silence has been pretty deafening this last week

Cardiff? Climate?
100cm of rain a year; spread out pretty evenly over the year.

A guy in the protester was saying that 200 peoples died this week under Mubarak's order and this is bringing the whole protest to a very personal level in the heart of the protesters.

God bless them!

see how terrible the in-laws are. As a president he did everything to be in good terms with them and forgot about being in good terms with egyptian population.

Because he's committed countless crimes against his subjects, embezzled money and conspired against them etc documents usually start surfacing once the perpetrator is out of office. I doubt that a UK already well integrated into the EU will say no the international court of justice.

Amr Moussa is a good and able man, but whether he will be accepted by the masses is what I don't know. Yes, I might favour him over Mr el-Baradei. His experience as chief of the Arab League to me counts more than to have been chief of the IAEA.

the fact that he insisted on "i will die on egyptian soil" does not promise a clean outcome for the confrontation.

Effectively, people are screaming at him: You will die on egyptian soil, we are ready to die on this square, leave!

Sorry, but as chief of the Arab League, he had to stay neutral. He was not an "Egyptian politician" and a chief of the Arab League is not to meddle in political affairs of the member states. Matters however in the meantime have changed
