Re: Egypt- "Jan25_ Day of revolution"

When the fighting is over, I hope that the anti-iMuburak will find it in thier hearts to forgibe the thugs that were sent in yesterday. Most of them were desperate to hang on to jobs they were paid or threatened. Forgive them for they know not what they do.
However, those who know, who are trying to protect their ill-gotten possession, that's a different case.
Who are the generals, chief of police and when will they resign?

One of the US reporters got his head wound cleaned up by a Muslim woman, when finished, she patted him and gave him a motherly kiss-he instantly gave a big smile!
Due to the protests in Yemen the leader says that he will not pass on the leadership to his son, he will not seek another term after 2013

Egyptian PM addressing the crisis with a really unsure sounding translator sounds like he has a gun in his back! The PM is trying to make excuses blaming the Muburak supporter violence on factions and the impetuousness of youth.

Headlines of what he is saying:
  • He doesn't understand why & how Mubarak supporters arrived to Tahrir in the first place.
  • He's initiating investigation to check if it was preplanned.
  • Investigation with all ministry of interior for their non existence.
  • Investigating all the funds and people who have fled the country during the crisis.
  • Starting immediate dialogue with the young in Tahrir square and all involved parties in the crisis.
  • Bringing discipline to all govt offices to serve the citizens in the most efficient and respectable way.
  • Mubarak leaving power after his term for the dignity of the nation and respect of the protocols and nothing else but this.
  • Changing the bad image that was reflected to the world during the crisis and fix the foreign policies that have been damaged.
  • Getting back the Egyptian society / economy / security on track as soon as possible

There's much more than this but these are the main headlines, good speech to be honest and the guy is decent, but will the words translate acts?, this is everyone question, we had many speeches in our lives that we don't believe it no more so lots of people are still not buying this.

Re: Egypt- "Jan25_ Day of revolution"

Hopefully the trickle will turn into a flood.

Shahira Amin quit her job as a senior reporter at Nile TV yesterday and has been telling al-Jazeera why:
I can't be part of the propaganda machine; I am not going to feed the public lies ... They [Nile TV] are showing the Mubarak supporters, calling them 'the Egyptians'. that is what they are showing all day. They are not showing what's happening in Tahrir Square ... People are dying here, everything is distorted.
Amin added that she had received threats in the past for her insistence on broadcasting the "truth". "I have had calls from state security. I have had people tell me this is the last time I do this or else."

Re: Egypt- "Jan25_ Day of revolution"

Statement by the EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the situation in Egypt

Quote:
Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, made today the following statement:
“We have passed a strong message to the Egyptian authorities. I have repeatedly expressed my great concern over the reports that peaceful demonstrators have been violently attacked by armed individuals. I wish to extend my condolences to the friends and families of those who have been killed or hurt during the last number of days.
I urge the Egyptian authorities to immediately take the necessary measures to ensure that the law enforcement authorities protect the demonstrators and their right to assembly freely. I have made clear that it is the responsibility of the army and law enforcement to protect its citizens. The Government is accountable for the welfare and safety of its people. Those responsible for the loss of life and injuries caused should be held accountable for their actions and brought to justice. The intimidation and aggression directed at journalists is also totally unacceptable.
Urgent, concrete and decisive measures are now needed to meet the democratic aspirations of the Egyptian people. I call on the Egyptian authorities to embark now on a meaningful and real transition towards genuine democratic reform, paving the way for free and fair elections.”

If the Muslim Brotherhood are treated as a radical group, they will fall into the hands of radicals!
Oh, so they weren't already radical ?

Oh, btw, do you know their motto is:

- Allah is our objective
- The Prophet is our leader
- Qur'an is our law
- Jihad is our way
- Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope

Awww, gotta love Islam !

Reminds me of Asterix in Britain.
The British lost their fights against the invading Romans because they had to stop mid battle to drink tea.

Statistically speaking, if anybody is a radical, it is the US military & allies. They're especially "radical" with collateral damage at times of war/strikes against the will of the UN and when invading sovereign nations.
We quickly forget war crimes and mass genocide committed against the Koreans, Vietnamese, Iraqis, and Afghans etc... But I'm increasingly leaning towards the theory that we intentionally forget as it is more convenient to do so.

Oh, btw, do you know their motto -US military- is:

- Invasion is our objective
- Petrayas is our leader
- Utter disregard of human rights & Geneva conventions is our law
- mass genocide is our way
- Destroying all that comes our way is our highest hope
