Re: Egypt "Jan 25 - Day of revolution" [Update: Mubarak resigns]

Signs of the time: stories like this would not have been published before the "revolution".
If insulting the army is a crime, what do Egyptian historians do ?

Quote "Egyptian soldiers armed with clubs and rifles have stormed Cairo's Tahrir Square in a pre-dawn raid that reportedly killed at least two people, reigniting the simmering tensions in the country."

Disappointing....

As expected from a military rule.

The demonstrations are actually very important - people tasted freedom and they like it.

Unless the demonstrators get their act together and form serious political parties the army will probably share the rule with the Muslim brotherhood, and then they will have much better reason to demonstrate.

The crowds want to see results, and it's easier to jail 3 men, then to provide jobs to 30 million.

Haaretz - Egypt warns Israel: Don't interfere with opening of Gaza border crossing

Quote:
Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces General Sami Anan warned Israel against interfering with Egypt's plan to open the Rafah border crossing with Gaza on a permanent basis, saying it was not a matter of Israel's concern, Army Radio reported on Saturday.

Egypt announced this week that it intended to permanently open the border crossing with Gaza within the next few days.
Funnily enough, they took this information of a facebook page claimed to be Sami Anan's (And it's actually not his) as per the hebrew version of the same article.

How childish is that to respond to a facebok page!!!, or is it just a desperate try to break the peace treaty with Egypt as soon as possible and declare war??

The Egyptian army's Chief of staff has a facebook or not ?

Personally - if Egypt opens it's border to Gaza, Israel should seize the opportunity and close it's border to Gaza completely.

Why do most Egyptians want to cancel the peace treaty ? Maybe the Egyptians decide to cancel the peace treaty and give Sinai back to Israel (land for peace should work both ways).

If Netanyahu continues with policies, pretty soon there may not be any Israeli borders to close. Forget the walled city, Israel will become the walled country. As far as anti-semitics are concerned Netanyahu will have done the job for them!. While in the West and the US middle easterners of Jewish and Muslim descent will sit down and like we do have homous competitions. In which I was beaten- I now get a regular supply of home-made homous.

Another demo is scheduled this Friday 27.5 against the current military dictatorship which replaced the former dictatorship.

Since the revolution the economy deteriorated & crime is on the rise. It will take more than a few show trails to improve Egyptian lives.

Interesting times.

Thank goodness, the military were in cahoots with the old guard, it was more like a coup.

some people are so naive it hurts - this poor guy really thought the Egypt is now a free country and not a conspiracy obsessed Tyranny.

Let's hope the he will only spend a few days in jail.

Note to Mowvich's friends in Egypt security services: Spies don't usually document their activities in Facebook.

Egyptian justice - Guilty until proven otherwise.
He is accused of spying in tourist attraction. evidence: he took pictures of tourist attractions.

And to think Egypt had a judge in the international court of justice. Nero would have approved.

Why do you think that HE has to prove innocence ???? In any decent jurisdiction, the prosecution has to prove that the accused is guilty, and for sure NOT the other way round

Re: Egypt "Jan 25 - Day of revolution" [Update: Mubarak resigns]

So are there going to be elections in Egypt or will the military coup continue?

Parliament was dissolved in mid-February! That was 4 months ago!!

I posted this link in Mid Feb; at the time I thought it was meant to be a joke
