Thanks for that link - interesting article, feels well-written.
As for all the 'hundreds of men & women working on these books' I'm sad to say that they're doing a poor job - I mean, a top-selling novel that comes out with several cases of "off of" through the book (eg, "He got off of the horse." & "She took the book off of him.")?? This is the twelfth book in a best-selling series, and they can't be bothered correcting the dodgy grammar of the new author?
If they did a good job I might be willing to pay what they're asking ... but it's unlikely.

Seems I may be getting behind the times. | | | | | I've yet to see anyone wrap their fish and chips up in kindle. and still be able to read through the thick coating of chip shop lard. |

(Thank you, bookdepository.co.uk & bookdepository.com).
I've been through Project Gutenberg & downloaded heaps of the free classics, which I can read happily on my computer ... but will buy some form of eBook reader once the publishers see reason and drop their prices for eBooks. Sadly, I don't see this happening in the near future ... | | | | | Spot on fellow Adliswiler!!!

I love my kindle. I can upload PDF's of journal articles I need to read for work.
I can browse and purchase any time, any place... so fending off those hours of boredom when visiting the family... I can just settle down and read a good book ,looking up occasionally and nodding at grannie so she knows I'm still in the room!
I can avoid people on trams, trains, buses, well almost anywhere, if I so wish.
The ink screen means I can read for hours without backlight giving me eye strain and if I do get fed up of reading, I can switch to text to voice and get some robotic American read to me!
I hope the day comes when I have my 3,500 book limit and I can organise a Kindle Swap shop and get to read all their library too!
A kindle loving Gal x

Unfortunately, you can't purchase items from amazon unless the credit card/debit card linked to the account has a US address. | | | | | I'm not quit sure that's correct. As long as you pay in US$ you can use a Swiss based credit/debit card. Mine allows this.

I admit I miss the fulfillment of "The End", closing the book and putting it down. But damn! I am speeding through books that I buy anytime of the day and travelling is fantastic with the Kindle. I like it.

This is the closest thread I could find on tapatalk, so I hope I chose well...
Now that Amazon.de sells kindle books I keep getting bombarded with messages from Amazon.Com to transfer my account, saying it would be a more 'comfortable' experience!? In fact, I don't find navigating a German website comfortable, nor do I see any price advantage. The only thing is that apparently I could use my debit card instead of a credit card. Am I missing something? Has anyone made the leap?

My guess is that they assume that since you enter amazon from switzerland and have a Swiss address, your primary language is german rather than english. I find myself ignoring such helpful messages. Annoying. I also have a US-based audiobook account at audible.com (now owned by Amazon), which uses the same amazon login and payment info.
