similar story... told to us by a french friend who was many years ago visiting england with her then future husband and needed a battery for something or other but couldnt think of the english word so she just used the french "pile" but said it with an english inflection hoping as you were the words were similar.

"'scuse me do you have piles?"

piles of course is english for hemorrhoids.

hmmmm - do we know each other?

not unless your location stating "Neuchatel" is a clever disguise.

Re: Farting in public to be criminalised.

Just that the same happened to one of my French asssitante in the UK, and I often tell the story. Mind you, another one wanted to cook 'Coq au vin' for her host family, and guess what she asked for at the butcher's 'Have you got a big ... (French word for chicken). I've been called Adèle and Odette by UK people who couldn't quiet cope with 'Odile' but never Elda. My bil affectionately calls me 'ordeal'.

This might be a reply from the EF to the Malawi minister of Justice...

Re: Farting in public to be criminalised.

Very vulgar today, some of you

Here is the correct way of dealing with one's botty-burps:

"Never admit to farting even if there are only two of you. If this is really going to make you look like a liar, a pretence of searching for an imaginary gas seepage between the floorboards with the attendant turning up your nose in disbelief at the horrid smell is a proper demonstration of innocence. This ruse will of course be understood by other fair-minded farters who know what it feels like to be the object of unflattering attention."

Seems like a lot of hot air to me. Malawi must be having a picture of Mr. Methane on their "Wanted" Posters

It's disgusting to fart in public. Shows lack of manners and bad upbringing.

Its people who decide to drop the goods in enclosed spaces that gets me, I always seem to get stuck in lifts with them. Why can they not wait 2 mins?

Re: Farting in public to be criminalised.

As a kid when accused of phantom farting We used to say "Dog's smell their own Dirt first" this was reference to the way in which dogs after laying a big steaming jobbie then turn and sniff it.

We had a niece staying a while ago and was constantly in hysterics after seeing Ausfahrt, aufahrt and the best one gute fahrt

Does anyone remember some kid selling Britney Spears fart on EBay?

And whilst there are those who consider farting in public disgusting or rude, don't tell me you never do it!

Re: Farting in public to be criminalised.

I've suffered a bit of temporary deafness and cannot hear my own farts, nor anyone elses for that matter. If you see me look horrified, glance about nervously, then say sorry for no good reason you'll know that smell belongs to me, I never know if anyone else can hear tham either.

You sure leave a trail that looks like shit to me! If you start any more threads the forum might break.

Farting in public is rude Nil. No one should have to tolerate your farts online and offline

Edit- I just checked the link again and there are almost 10 pages I will have to check them out

Re: Farting in public to be criminalised.

My ex (French) wife and I were traveling by car through the states when we stopped at a rest area. As we walked over to the restrooms she started laughing when she saw a sign similar to the one shown below. She then informed me that pet was the French word for fart.

It was a dark and windy night, 4 years ago in April. Nothing on the Telly, just the ticking of the clock to mark the passing of time. Then, breaking the silence that only a loving couple would not mind, it came. A gentle feathery whoosh followed by a mouse squeak interlude and then a bass crescendo. Turning to CClare,my loved one, I knew It. The revelation was impossible to hide.

Woman Do fart.

EDIT: Name changed to protect the guilty.
Wrong. Women produce 'air tulips'.
