David Cameron has finally awakened - attacks multiculturalism

There's still hope after all, or as a friend likes to say - better late than never:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...m-2205074.html

"Europe needs to wake up to what is happening in our own countries,” he said. “We have to get to the root of the problem."

David Cameron launched a devastating attack today on 30 years of multiculturalism in Britain, warning it is fostering extremist ideology and directly contributing to home-grown Islamic terrorism.

He warned Muslim groups that if they fail to endorse women's rights or promote integration, they will lose all government funding. All immigrants to Britain must speak English and schools will be expected to teach the country's common culture.

We have even tolerated segregated communities behaving in ways that run counter to our values.

Mr. Cameron blamed a doctrine of "state multiculturalism" which encourages different cultures to live separate lives. This, he says, has led to the "failure of some to confront the horrors of forced marriage".

"Frankly, we need a lot less of the passive tolerance of recent years and much more active, muscular liberalism," he will say.

Similar warnings about multiculturalism have been sounded by Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and by President Nicolas Sarkozy of France.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...eron-says.html

Muslims must embrace our British values, David Cameron says.

British Muslims must subscribe to mainstream values of freedom and equality, David Cameron declared that the doctrine of multiculturalism has "failed" and will be abandoned.

And how and when will Muslims adopt British values ? Or Western values in general ?

Islam is an ideology entirely incompatible with Western liberal democracy. It has a regressive and primitive tradition...

The whole premise of Islam is that you are NOT 'free to form your own truths' - you don't even get to choose wether to be a Muslim or not, you are born one, and are liable to be killed if you apostise, or even venture any mild criticism of it.</B>

'Religion Of Peace' ? Based on what evidence exactly...

Welcome to the Forum.

Other than concerning Dominos pizza prices, your posts so far - mostly off topic - are Muslim bashing.

Perhaps you'd like to introduce yourself to the community?

Dogs are generally not kept behind a gate. They are usually quite free to wander around a house or if they go out to play they will run around and there isn't much danger of that dog not coming back. All you do is shout after the dog and it will come.

Whereas horses, I'd imagine are rather more difficult to bring back in. They aren't as sociable as dogs are.

The idiom is horses for a reason. You can't just change it to any animal and say it is the same thing.

Closing the cat flap after the cat has left doesn't quite have the same meaning.

Re: David Cameron has finally awakened - attacks multiculturalism

If Cameron really said this then why does he also promote and strongly advocate 'free schools' which will greatly increase the number of doctrine led schooling, the Jews, Muslims, Christians and evangelists are wringing their hands in anticipation of legally condoned segregation with the only propitiation being uniform 'A*' grades.

This thread smacks of the 'English defense league'.

You can't possibly give honey the same rights as crunchy peanut butter or Nutella!

The peanut butter is kept incarcerated in the fridge because of its crimes and we are considdering kicking it out; the Nutella has been unemployed for the last 6 months and has been moved to the low cost housing under the counter.
The only battle going on is the battle between the Swiss and German honey....who knows who will win.
My approach is that each should appreciate its cultural heritage but respect its neighbours, be they expats or whatever.
My flatmates approach is that they should be integrated.
Generally after a couple of drinks we can't taste the difference anyway and are thinking about bringing the Nutella out of retirement to settle the whole thing.
