The UK is sending "advisors" to help the rebels.
I don't see the need. |

Hertherington's last tweet was:
“In besieged Libyan city of Misrata. indiscriminate shelling by Qaddafi forces. No sign of NATO.”
I know that it is wrong to seek vengeance but go ahead NATO. I think NATO is about to bomb the out of any Libyan bases

One American general colourfully said; it is like trying to interfere in a knife fight in a telephone kiosk. | | | | | I wondered why they weren't uing the drones- apparently they are in short suplply ( see Economist article below). However this makes me wonder- don't other countries have drones or do they just rely on the US? How does the Nato funding work out? Do they addd up teh cost and split it equally among the different countries, or is there a NATO fund?
Oh well looks like I can't cut and past anymore-my laptop is wrecked- a virus (Russian I think) got through all my Norton and antivirus software, but it's in the paragraph below the map when you hit on the Economist link http://www.economist.com/node/185869...src=rsshttp:// |

As a photographer as well, I've had such massive respect for Hetherington's work. Restrepo was an extraordinary piece of film making.
The world has lost a very important talent.
Also Chris Hondros was also killed with him, a brilliant photojournalist as well.
What a truly tragic waste of remarkable lives - RIP, gentlemen. |

The rebels seems to be doing a very competent job of defending Misurata although at a terrible cost of loss of life & injuries; if one can believe the newspaper reports.
Anybody have a theory why; it needs strategy, discipline & decent weapons which seem to be lacking in other parts of rebel held Libya; again only if one can believe the newspaper reports.

From today's newspaper
"Libya: tribal chiefs call on Col Gaddafi to go. Chiefs or representatives of 61 Libyan tribes from across the country called for an end to Col Muammar Gaddafi's rule, in a joint statement released by French writer Bernard-Henri Levy. " Anybody know how many tribes in Libya? |

I feel sad for any loss of innocent life- but Ghaddafi killed Tim Hetherington so I tend to agree with Marton. Get rid of him before he kills anymore Tim Hetheringtons. To me the resemblance between the photos of Ghaddafi that Castro posted and the photo that Pashosh posted are becoming more and more similar.

Why??
The Gadaffis have killed thousands of civilians & badly injured many more.
Nato have killed, maybe - not confirmed, less than 1% of the Gadaffi total & Nato has already saved many times more than the number of civilians murdered by the Gadaffi family.

Unfortunately NATO has to keep to the rules and only bomb military targets.
"It is in line with UN resolution 1973, and it is about preventing a loss of
civilian life by targeting Gaddafi's war-making machine."
However if the Gadaffi family choose to spend Saturday in a military command bunker,
which was bombed, then that would be unfortunate.
The TV reports show lots of heavily damaged re-inforced concrete with a bunker 2 floors
below ground. It was military and civil quarters. Gadaffis 3rd son went on TV to say NATO
was acting illegally.... and the nation's leader was unhurt.
The Embassies of Italy, France, USA, UN and Britain have been attacked, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13253371 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ . . . . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12831594

So now Ghadaffi has six sons and not seven?
I wonder if the grandchildren were his before or after the bombing? | Quote: | | | | He is also said to have adopted two children, Hanna and Milad.[198][199] Hanna was apparently killed in 1986 at the age of four, during retaliatory US bombing raids; the facts are disputed however,[200] and this adoption may have been posthumous. | | | | | Wikipedia

About "The Swiss government says it has identified potential assets to be frozen worth 830m Swiss francs (nearly $1bn or £600m) belonging to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and the ousted presidents of Egypt and Tunisia."
Must be tough when you have to start worrying about "where are your last few billion....."

The British position is shifting faster than stolen goods:
First they sent Diplomats with fake passports to the rebels, then adviser and now this - trying to broker "peace" with Gaddafi (while still bombing him - not that it seems to make that much difference).
It's like a Gilbert & Sullivan opera (with plenty of bodies). |
