Gordon Brown blocked Steve Jobs' knighthood

Steve Jobs was denied an honorary knighthood in 2009 because of then Prime Minister Gordon Brown, according to a former senior Labour MP.

It was revealed today that the proposal to knight Mr Jobs reached final stages in London.
But it was blocked by Downing Street after Mr Jobs snubbed an appearance at Labourís annual conference, the Telegraph reported.

Sorry for being cynical but the Daily Mail was quoting The Telegraph who in turn was reporting a conversation with a former labour minister.......

I think the point here is not whether or not Jobs deserves a Knighthood, but the fact that Brown said 'No, he can't have one if he doesn't come to my party! '

Doesn't surprise me, not only for the party thing but mainly because Brown is an underachiever and Jobs is the opposite. As people say, America adores successful entrepreneurs while in the UK, well, we know.

Isn't Steve Jobs an American? And isn't it impossible for him to become a knight of the realm because he's not in our realm, filthy traitor that he is? lol

What are the marginal tax rates on billionaires in America vs. the UK and how do they compare to the middle class rates?

Doesn't surprise me, not only for the party thing but mainly because Brown whilst annoying made it to the top job in the land through graft and backstabbing and Jobs stole the Apple OS from Unix.

As people say, America adores successful ponzi scheme owners/tax avoiders while in the UK, well, we know.
Let me fix that for you.

I judge a society on the difference between the poor and rich, if the gap is huge like in the US it's a failed society. The US is no example to no one.

Lets compare it against somewhere like Sweden shall we and perhaps this guy. Okay his sheets aren't whiter than white, but I'd prefer him to Jobs for a knighthood any day.

Quite sure that in Pol Pot's Cambodia the difference between the poor and rich was pretty small.
