Well, if greasy sausage (never seen a pig in their life ...) rolls are your thing, then...
...get down to Migros.

What? It is not that expensive (if that is what you mean) - and you do get what you pay for.

Sorry DB, I know that Greggs is popular in the UK, but it never did it for me.
ha! Well it's all relative, Bill Gates probably would say it's cheap as chips but I struggled to afford it. The breads are amazing there, but I'd stick my neck out and say they're the most expensive in London and I know for a fact they're more than in Harrods food hall.

I suspect that Mr Porsch, like me, abstains from those particular delicacies.

I have to say I have never tried pork products. But people have told me that pork is the tastiest meat.

God would be quite the trickster to make pork the tastiest meat then tell Muslims and Jews that they can't have it

If it's any consolation, I've heard human meat tastes very similar.

Have you ever been to Papua New Guinea?

Re: Subway overtakes McDonalds as Worlds #1

I had a steak bridie (from Aulds, rather than Greggs) and a can of Irn Bru as my lunchtime snackette today.

It was very nice.

I'm not a big fan of Aulds. There stuff isn't as Fresh as greggs I find sometimes.

When I was at Uni in Glasgow the little old lady at Greggs knew my order for lunch off by heart. I'd go in and just as for the usual and she'd get it ready (Two cheese and onion pasties and a bottle of Diet Irn-Bru)

I went back last year and she wasn't there and I asked the rest what happened. They said she passed away Lady fed me lunch for most of my Bachelor's degree.

We'd set out a nice meal at either Ashoka (Indian) or paperinos (italian) for every Friday as well.

If we were poor we'd stick to a roll and potato scone. Now I know Weejam knows about them

I've said this before but any criticism of Scotland is met with a swift Glasgow kiss

Where's the criticism implied or otherwise?

Fact: the (modern) Scottish diet is piss-poor unhealthy
Fact: heart disease rates are amongst the highest in Europe and Globally
Fact: Scotland, and Glasgow in particular, are centres for research on health effects of (poor) diets

Having a diet Irn-bru = healthy option... it is all relative... just don't mention the deep-fried Mars bars...

You know you love them.

The new la Vita restaurant just next to paperinos on Byres road is quite nice as well. The decor is quite fancy too.

Yes, not bad. But not a patch on The Real Pasty Company

It isn't. It's what you can do with pork...Pata Negra is in my top 5 foods of all time. Having said that, I'd say beef or game take it.

My Italian co-workers like to go to this place:

http://zuri.net/zurich/9435/il_pentagramma.htm
(they don't have a web-site).
The Panini there are OK IMO.

If you ever make it to Munich, buy a sandwich at a Hofpfisterei branch (Stachus is a good location).
*Those* I do count as real sandwiches.
The stuff Subway served 10 years ago (the first and last time I tried) is just compressed saw-dust in comparison.
