Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

Images of emaciated and mangled bodies from recent history in Syria were publicly displayed for the first time Wednesday at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, documenting the work of a former Syrian military photographer who defected and has testified in Congress about witnessing mass killings.

Old thread but anyway
"Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have confirmed today that a senior member of their elite forces, Mohammad Ali Allahdad, died in an Israeli attack in Syria in which six fighters of the Lebanese military group Hezbollah are also reported to have been killed.
Among the Hezbollah fighters killed in Sunday’s attack was Jihad Mughniyeh, the son of Hezbollah’s late commander, Imad Mughniyeh, who is believed to have been assassinated by Israel in Damascus in 2008.
Another Hezbolllah commander, Mohamad Issa, also known as Abu Issa, was killed on Sunday, according to the Lebanese group."

I have ZERO sympathy for HizbUllah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, but the Mossad eliminating their commanders is not a nice thing

Israel deploys Irondome to the North. Probability of WWIII erupting in Syria rising.

Fate or way too many people are too eager to self-fulfill religious prophecies? It seems to follow a script.

correct, but travel around in Germany, France and Italy and visit cities which also were heavily destroyed but were beautifully re-built. The GDR even had this aspect in its national Anthem
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTV92wqYjfA
In West Germany, cities like München and Stuttgart as late as in 1968 were still damaged, and cities like Frankfurt am Main and Friedrichshafen were under repair into the 1970ies

... and rebuilt

The End and the Beginning

BY WISŁAWA SZYMBORSKA
TRANSLATED BY JOANNA TRZECIAK

After every war
someone has to clean up.
Things won’t
straighten themselves up, after all.

Someone has to push the rubble
to the side of the road,
so the corpse-filled wagons
can pass.

Someone has to get mired
in scum and ashes,
sofa springs,
splintered glass,
and bloody rags.

Someone has to drag in a girder
to prop up a wall.
Someone has to glaze a window,
rehang a door.

Photogenic it’s not,
and takes years.
All the cameras have left
for another war.

We’ll need the bridges back,
and new railway stations.
Sleeves will go ragged
from rolling them up.

Someone, broom in hand,
still recalls the way it was.
Someone else listens
and nods with unsevered head.
But already there are those nearby
starting to mill about
who will find it dull.

From out of the bushes
sometimes someone still unearths
rusted-out arguments
and carries them to the garbage pile.

Those who knew
what was going on here
must make way for
those who know little.
And less than little.
And finally as little as nothing.

In the grass that has overgrown
causes and effects,
someone must be stretched out
blade of grass in his mouth
gazing at the clouds.

Sure. Imagine that parts of downtown Friedrichshafen only got rebuilt in the late 1970ies early 80ies -- more than 30 years after the war

What a shame for arab & muslim leaders in the region.

Comprehensive BBC report on British citizens in Syria, many have died there, such a misguided waste,

and a message from Britain's Imams,

Not necessarily a waste, these people knew what they were doing. Better a dead Jihadi than a live one (I hope they got killed quickly, before they could harm someone) .

Usually increasing numbers of dead and disabled fighters discourages the other potential volunteers.

Plenty of European protests against the Syrian war listed on this page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interna...rian_Civil_War

Plenty of statements from the "anti-semitic" human rights orgs about the Syrian war as well, can be found with less than a minutes effort on any search engine

http://www.hrw.org/news/2015/03/22/s...kill-civilians

One wonders how somebody can be so selectively blind ...

Wow - a statement ! What an effort, it must have be so hard to write a statement and publish it online ! almost as hard as selling an IKEA bed online.

Where are the huge demos ? the boycotts ? the boats carrying help ? perhaps resigning from a government post or two ?

What about a concert to collect funds ? maybe Sting will join ?

It is NOT a Country against another country. And it is not even a "normal" civil war

Whom to demonstrate against ?
Whom to boycott ?

As soon as Dr Assad will have won, the aid actions will start
