Mubarek?
I quote "Hosni Mubarak is in hospital with a suspected heart attack; when he gets out, he could be hanged, and his sons are currently in prison."

So what is to learn?
To learn how NOT to do it. I find it particularily strange that Gamal Mubarak stayed on, as it HIS "business methods" which are in the center of the negotiations.

Had mubarak & sons flown to Switzerland 2 months ago - he would not be facing jail or worse anytime soon. he would definitely have a better hospital to care of him

Assad keeps doing what Assads do - kill civilians.

The U.N thinks it's ok

Hmmm?

Where did you get this interesting piece of "information" ? Syria under Assad supported Hizbullah & Hamas, and may gain if he is gone.

come on now, we all know its true

who do you think will come to power after/if asad is gone? Israel prefers (and supports) a good old secular dictator to a real democracy when it comes to muslim countries (which is the real reason why she is not so "liked" by the people of the M.E.)

Maybe you should read again, points I was trying to convey are: 1) Israel prefers secular dictators over popular democracies in the M.E. 2) Therefore Israel prefers Asad staying in power 3) Israel supported Mubarak (as an implication of their policy outlined in 1

Let us know if and why you object to these points

Typical conspiracy ignoring facts.

Israel never supported Assad - Turkey & Iran are doing it.

To this day there are no other democarcies in the middle east so your "argument" fails already on the first point.

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

The Mass killings in Syria continue, Iran may be involved .

Still - no outcry, no major demonstration in European cities.

One would have expected some of the people who were so upset about the killing of Bin Laden, universal human rights etc to make the voices heard, but the silence is deafening.

you sound like the perfect idiot yourself, all major news outlets that a person like you would consider reliable are full of articles like these:

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

None of the articles above show any western support to Assad's regime.
But this still leaves my original question: none of the NGOs which were loud about iraq, lebanon and gaza said anything about Syria. Turkey's erdogan is also relatively quiet.

Ahmadinejad is at a UN meeting in Turkey today, I am am sure that Syria will send a representative, so maybe they will sort something out.
