The Kurds are on the Kurdish side - fighting both Shia (Assad-iran) and Sunni (ISIS, Turkey)
The first part is true but it seems pretty clear that the Syrian Kurds are more aligned with Assad. I suspect Kurdish autonomy following the fighting has already been verbally agreed upon.

Edit: Most Syrian Kurds are Sunni but this is not so important for them.

A Verbal contract is not worth the paper it's written on

It's possible that Assad and his supporters/masters in Moscow/Teheran made some promises, but a Kurdish state is not in their interest.

On the contrary: among respectable parties, verbal contracts can be worth much more than any 'written' contracts in today's political economy.

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

Another day in Syria, another Russian bombing of a hospital - actually 2 today. Quite similar to Georgia in 2008 and Chechnya in 1999. Corbyn and Stop the war have been quiet about this.

ISIS is now less of a threat then Assad to Syrian civilians. Assad freed Islamist prisoners from his jails when the protests against him started, quite likely with the current situation in mind - giving the Syrians and the rest of the world a choice between him and them. Better the devil you know, you know.

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

So far the US have always admitted when they bombed hospitals.
Russia has never admitted bombing a hospital.

Next question?

BTW, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Mego Terzian, MSF’s France president said 14 hospitals have been bombed so far this year in Syria; starting to look like a deliberate Russian war strategy.

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

Saudi Arabia and Russia agreed to freeze oil output at near-record levels, source here.

Now if Saudi send ground forces into Syria then Russia will have to decide is Assad more or less important than the oil price.

Pass the popcorn!

BTW,oil price has fallen after this agreement. Surely there are not people who do not believe what Saudi Arabia and Russia announce ??

I think you mis-translated:

"We want a ground operation. If there is a consensus, Turkey will take part. Without a ground operation, it is impossible to stop this war."

... because we will make sure it will be impossible.

Maybe. Turkey and Assad were allies in 2010, maybe they will be allies again.

Currently Russia is killing more people than ISIS in Syria. It's hard to validate the numbers, but Russia has the most fire power in the Syrian war and human rights are not high on it's agenda.

Obama is shooting himself in the foot by not pushing for an investigation into the hospital bombings. The Russians can't resist an investigation as they claim they didn't do it.

Russia officially denied bombings the hospitals, it can't even hide behind a "rebel" organization.

No I mean't "Russia has vetoed a United Nations resolution to create an international tribunal to prosecute those who shot down the Malaysian airliner MH17 over eastern Ukraine in 2014.

The lone "no" vote cast on Wednesday by Vitaly Churkin, Russian ambassador to the UN, effectively blocked the resolution. Russia is one of the five permanent UN Security Council members with veto powers"

Exactly - if they block it, it wil expose them. Russia blamed the U.S so it should actually encourage an investigation.

If you read closely you'll find that out of 3600 killed, 1400 or about 40% were classified as civilians.

However, wouldn't one expect a roughly even distribution between the sexes? Well, there were 332 children and 195 women among those 1380 classified as civilians, and thus 853 grown up men, not exactly what I'd call even.

The article quotes SOHR, short for Syrian Organisation for Human Rights. The organisation has one sole permanent employee, namely Rami Abdulrahman (aka Osama Suleiman). Well, according to Wiki he hasn't been in Syria since 2000.

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

The Fars News Agency (FNA) is a a "semi-official" news agency in Iran yesterday featued here here a statement by the Syrian Ambassador to the UN ""The military gains in the Northern parts of Syria are the joint victories of the Syrian army and the Kurdish fighters," al-Jaafari said, addressing the UN General Assembly meeting.

They also claimed "Russian and Syrian fighter jets, in a joint operation, tracked and targeted an over 300-member convoy of fresh militants, who had earlier crossed the Syria-Turkey border to join the terrorist groups operating in Tal Rifat and its surroundings. The militants column was on a road connecting Azaz and Tal Rifat.
In addition to the killing and wounding of almost the entire members of the column, the terrorists' vehicles and weapons were also destroyed in the air raid."

And also claimed "The YPG Kurds have recently bonded with the Damascus government. The Syrian army sent several arms cargoes to the YPG troops in the Northeastern province of Hasaka and trained the first group of Kurdish volunteer forces in the provincial capital city of Hasaka last week."
