He no know what is Aleppo, but he had a reasonable answer about Syria - leave it for the Russians. That is pretty much Obama's policy.

Yet another agreemnet between the U.S and Russia about Syria. As things stand looks like Russia will keep propping up Assad - the U.S dropped the requirement of removing him.

Situation now getting very complicated.
The Turks invaded Syria on the pretext of fighting ISIS but actually are now fighting the Kurds.
Kurds have succeded in killing Turkish soldiers

Both side are supported by the US and using US weapons

Sooner or later the US will have to pick sides

Source (worth reading)

Positive point, this should allow some refugees to go home

Turkey is now disregarding the Von-der-Goltz----Mustafa-Kemal-Line and up for expsnsion into the Green Crescent -- a truly historic move

Interesting comparison:
Western allies bombed the Syrian army - security council ememrgency meeting called.
Russia/Syria bombed UN convoy - no meeting called.

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

Bombing armed people, possibly in civilian cloths, in a location where ISIS is and Syrian army wasn't known to be, when there is no military gain and will eaken the cease fire the U.S pushed for - could very well be a mistake.

Bombing a marked U.N convoy, whose route was coordinated with the Syrian army (and hence with the Russian), delivirng aid to areas under rebel control - very likely a war crime. similar to the near constant bombing of indiscrimnate bombing of hospitals in rebel held areas.

LOL. Title of your linked CNN source: "US builds working theory on cause of Syrian airstrike"

Do you work for Al Jazeera, BBC, CNN? It wasn't a UN convoy. There is no evidence that this was an air strike; Most likely a mortar attack by the rebels. Only evidence again comes from the "White Helmets".

That's the U.S position at the moment, you may accept or reject. but it makes sense: armed people in civilian clothing in military formation ? legitimate target.

It was a U.N convoy, the U.N confirmed it - "The convoy had received proper permits, and all warring parties - including Russia and the US - had been notified, a UN spokesman said". even the white helmet's twitter page has videos of it.

Re: Syria - It ain't over till it's over

In any case, any attempt to claim any moral high ground here is adding insult to injury at this point. This does not even look like a Syrian civil war anymore. It is now a computer game between the US and Russia with real people on the ground.

They need to move this out into the desert where they can go at each other all they want. In the meantime, they (EVERYBODY) really needs to leave the civilians alone finally.

So far ISIS have scored the highest number of civilians; now how do we move ISIS out into the desert?

Source? I read Assad's forces are responsible for about 90% of civilian deaths.

Unlinkely. Estimates are for about 400k dead so far. The war has been raging for five years or more, Daesh didn't make headlines until about two years ago and has only around 20k men under arms.

The U.S won't go to the security council, because it wants to keep the "cease fire" - Kerry even said "it's not dead"

Kerry is lambasting the Russians and the Syrians in the UN council right now. It will take a while until transcripts appear.

Initial transcripts coming in:

John Kerry: "Hey, sorry that we bombed you and killed your soldiers. We obviously didn't mean it. After all, we'd just agreed to a cease-fire. Stop defending yourselves and relax so we can get you some Band-Aids and granola bars now, OK?"

Not quite what he said, but if you wish to add your own, or someone elses spin, go right ahead.
