Gets worse, Erdogan with serious egg on his face
Quote:
At least 33 Turkish soldiers were killed in Syria's Idlib province on Thursday in an aerial attack by Syrian regime forces, according to Gov. Rahmi Dogan of Turkey's Hatay province.

Thirty-five soldiers injured in the attack have been evacuated to hospitals in Turkey, Dogan said.

Erdogan should have stayed out of Syria; in this situation, every possible direction is down.

The Europeans not extending any welcome to Syrians

Thousands are on their doorstep wanted to get to Europe trying to escape from having their heads blown off by the barbaric Russians and Assad govt. And the Europeans turn them away. Shame!

Turkey is a safe country just not luxurious enough for them or not close enough to their relatives. If safety was the reason there is no reason to travel further than Turkey.

Congratulations also on yet another dumb OP.

(Why does the thread title change from post to post)

I am very grateful that I have not had to live in a tent for years in somewhere like Turkey or Greece with limited movement outside the camp.

No hope for a better life.

It has been known for at least 15 years or more this was going to happen at some point.

Thousands of people walking to get somewhere for a better life.

Right now could not have happened at a worse time, COVID 19, where much of the world are trying to contain people to stop the spread of a virus.

It would surprise me if that wasn't part of Erdogan's gamble.

What better way to show to the EU that you've got them by the balls?

agree. He is good in power play - contrary to the weak EU leaders.

Yep he and the refugees both know that if they keep pushing at the gates with enough people and some sad looking kids on the frontline it is a matter of time before the gates will open. Most likely Millions or hundreds of thousands of people at a minimum who want to pass the gates, from a country that keeps denying it has any case of Corona which is utterly unlikely and the refugees very likely have their own demand for medical care in a time where our health systems already face what might become their biggest challenge in a century.

I tend to say just drop supply's with airplanes in Turkey a few km from the border and shoot those who have overrun the gates. Extreme conditions demand extreme responses, but the European leaders in large majority think that talking is going to solve this...

I guess the "coward" one is omtatsat original, a mod changed it but omtatsat was quoted already by that time.

What is new about this thread? It should be in the Syria thread. Europeans hardly ever welcome refugees and when they do they get bashed for it too (Merkel).

The tragic thing at the moment I'd say is that with the Corona-problem, the Europeans will refuse anybody from anywhere. Soon even "their own Europeans".

Totally in agreement that there is no reason to take them in, but I’m not sure we can get away with “shooting” people.

Re: The Europeans not extending any welcome to Syrians

The Bulgarians will shoot a few and suddenly staying in Turkey won’t seem so bad after all.

I expect the Greeks are close to hitting their limit too.

Corona virus ripping through migrant camps is not unrealistic either. Bad time to be in the refugee business.

I was thinking more about economical or political sanctions, or actually doing something about the situation in Syria.
