USA to be downgraded by S&P

The US is loosing it's AAA status as the household deficit is rather not under control. Foreign investors like China and India are putting on more pressure in order to get a better grip of the situation. Geithner thinks, everything is normal and does not need any counter actions.

I do wonder what will happen to the rest of the world if big countries cannot take over enough responsibility.

Re: USA to be downgraded by S&P

S&P haven't exactly covered themselves in glory during the financial crisis - remember the banks that were AAA rated almost until the day they were suddenly bankrupt?

On paper the US probably lost AAA months or even years ago. But of course S&P and Moody's dare not .. ahem .. sh1t where they eat, for want of a better term..

Re: USA to be downgraded by S&P

That's good for the US in the long run. US needs to balance its books and embark on some new industry to revolutionize the world and its own economy; US needs to export and import a lot less! As central banks diversify, the $ loses its reserve status which is a good/bad thing for the US, it also eases the burden a bit...
