At what point in his presidency will it be politically non leaning in his favor for re election for you for him to try to capture we have been looking for, for the past 13 or so year plus? 2 years from his run to re- election not enough?
Yeah that's the pic I saw, ad I saw it on CNN. I don't know it's a fake, there are other details, that weren't shown on the TMZ, but it could be a fake.
It wouldn't be the first time a criminal took advantage of people's ideas where to look for a fugitive, and go exactly where they wouldn't look. Do you think every Swiss military base knows the exact details of everyone living within a 25 km radius of their bases? They aren't police, and even they aren't perfect.
I don't see the dodgy part. A wanted fugitive is killed in a fire fight where he resisted. Where is the basis that there is soooo much more to this?
Of cours eits a fake, the picture is a photoshopped replica of the one next to it in the link I provided... theres no "could be" about it, use your eyes.

And no, I dont believe a Swiss military base would "know the exact details of everyone living around it"... but then again, for fear of pointing out the mind-numbingly obvious, we are talking about the Worlds Most Wanted Terrorist™ which every major Western intelligence agency was scouring the world for, and not some Swiss pensioner. Bit of a difference, non?

Picture of downed (due to technical failure) copter from BBC.

I am not familiar with American helicopters but yes it does seem like Blackhawk or something like that, but not a gunship.
I'm a helicopter expert and from that pix there is no way of identifying squat.

Well let me ask you this for example, would you be looking for Osama in the US? Say living outside of a US base?

It isnt obviously a fake unless you heard the story, and cornfloozed can be forgiven for not hearing everything on the subject. We arent all forensic experts you know

Also the fact that he evaded capture for so many years means that he must have been moderately talented at concealing himself. everywhere is in the end close to somewhere, more or less.

I must admit that the thought had also crossed my mind more than once that perhaps he had been secretly captured and interrogated prior to this time, and how would we know? Would be a mighty cover up though. Images of bin laden in a cage and bush coming in daily and poking him with a stick and laughing, etc.

The tradition is not being buried at sea, if you looked into it the tradition is to be buried within 24 hours of death
Actually it is as soon as possible usually within 24 hours but exceptions can be made this will cause problems. It is an insult to Islam The only way for it to be amended is for Muslims to claim that he is not a Muslim. To disown him, which many are prepared to do.I should know I have have been involved in a few Muslim burials

Are we sure burying Bin Laden at sea is the best idea? Remember, we buried Megatron at sea, too.

Do we have any confirmation that it was SEALs?

Al Jazeera is reporting that they landed between 20 and 25 troops. The standard Blackhawk can carry 11.

The Pentagon spokeswoman said "there were helicopters landed on this compound", so I'm guessing the landed at least some troops on the roof. It looks big enough to land on.

Did you take a look at the picture? Do you think it can carry any more than 2?

But some news said it was SEALS who shot him in the head, but yes the news stories are changing quite rapidly. Now, there were 3 helicopters, not 2.

MH-6 can carry 6 (4+2 crew) passengers. and it's length is less than 10 m. at 3 helos that's 12 ops on ground.

Am I looking at that picture the wrong way? The rest of the fuselage is on the far side of the wall, no?

Japan tightens security at military bases after bin laden's death

seriously more security around nuclear plants is required.

Re: US gov. claiming Osama bin Laden killed.

It was the seals, but if you ask me I think that the mechanical difficulties with the helicopter is a ploy. The Pakistanis had no knowledge of the attack. with good reason there was a Pakistani military base about a mile away on a region that is renowned for military Al Qaeda collusion. However with the problems recently (with the us spy killing a couple of Pakistanis chasing him) they needed Pakistani Government involvement to make it legal
When a military helicopter is down how could the Pakistanis refuse the us entering their air space to rescue? so they get compliance from the Pakistani government right at the end to make it legal. I think Obama is so clever

I see you are very new around here.
Do not generalize and put Islamic religion in the same basket with terrorist groups who call themselves moslems!
We have fellow moslems in this forum and be careful because your post can hurt someone here!

Would I look for Osama in the US, outside a military base? No of course, because the U.S. is nowhere near Afghanistan, or an area where the Taliban centrally operate. Pakistan, as im sure youre aware, is. Slightly odd question, not sure why you would even try and compare the U.S. to Pakistan in terms of a potential place to find Osama.

Good - but how stupid of Americans to organise such provocative jubilation and celebration - I cannot believe that they don't think about the possible repercussions. Duhhhhh It puts all of us at risk of increased terrorism and vengeance. Of of my daughters works in the City and I shudder to think.

Re: US gov. claiming Osama bin Laden killed.

I'm very uneasy about this, I woke up to the sound of Obamas announcement followed by the chanting outside the white house of 'U.S.A, U.S.A.' Once upon a time the American government would covertly kill their enemies as they knew assassination wouldn't be accepted by the mainstream, now they aren't even hiding it and the crowds are cheering them on. What happened to due process?

Bin Laden hadn't been convicted in absentia of anything; if I thought he was killed in a gunfight while evading arrest I'd be more happy about this but the way it's reading is he was dragged out and shot in the head after the gunfight was over, I don't want summary execution of suspects to be part of a modern democracies arsenal.

Also worth remembering is that the US were offered Bin Laden back in 2001 if they could provide proof of his guilt to which Bush famously replied "There's no need to discuss innocence or guilt. We know he's guilty".
