Re: US gov. claiming Osama bin Laden killed.

to all the doubters, answer me this, what could america possibly gain by lying on this? Osama is dead, if he wasn't then he would be making a video or tape as we speak to tell the world its a great big lie.

If he was dead years ago in a cave do you not think bush would have milked it for all it was worth?? given that he was possibly the most unpopular president of all time.

And even (if you really stretch reality) if he was dead in a cave for years and they just found the body, then the net result is still he's dead, bonus.

if the usa wrote the script do you really think they would have stuck him in a great big mansion in an up market district?? or a scummy cave living like a hermit??

To get a definitive ID probably.
they say after being identified that he was buried at sea according to Muslim tradition.I don't know of that tradition. I don't know of any Muslims buried at sea unless on a ship that can't get to port within three days. However it does mean that there is no martyrs grave- pretty clever huh?

The tradition is not being buried at sea, if you looked into it the tradition is to be buried within 24 hours of death

The BBC about the burial at sea thing.

Quote:
A US official quoted by Associated Press news agency said Bin Laden's body had been buried at sea, although this has not been confirmed.

Re: US gov. claiming Osama bin Laden killed.

It's good news that the murderer was finally stopped from planning further atrocities.
However I do not condone this "gloat and boast" attitude we are seeing today. We should remember that regrettably more violence is forthcoming and people from both sides are likely to get hurt.

Re: US gov. claiming Osama bin Laden killed.

Well CNN posted pictures of his upper body dead. I heard under accordance with Islamic beliefs they are supposed to be buried within 24 hours, but I don't know if it's true or if they did in fact bury him. It would be far more useful to dump his body at sea though so as to not allow any of his followers to use his body as a point of worship or the like.
Personally I think disposing of the body so quickly lends to alot of ideas that he may be still alive.
In the end it doesn't matter if he is or isn't, just as long as he is no longer allowed to inspire others to kill themselves to kill other people.

Seeing the rejoicing in times square shown on CNBC immediately reminded me of similar scenes we have all seen in the past on Al Jezeera of fundamentalists celebrating some victory against the west.

I find this troubling to be honest, though I can understand why it happens. We are not so different, you and I....

Reading with interest the link to the BBC, I noted that the US entered Pakistan without informing the country, and completed this operation a mere few hundred metres from Pakistans equivalent to West Point military academy.

Now, I am honestly not making any judgments, but can you imagine how it would play if the armed services of any foreign land in the world entered the US undetected and conducted an assasination next to the actual West Point, civilian casualties or not? Im no expert but im pretty sure that would probably start world war III.... and i make this point without exaggeration.

I was told by a pal to leave 10 minutes before the end. I took the advice and am grateful to him for saving me the ending.

I had heard on CNN and Skye that it was done in conjunction with the Pakistani intelligence. And even if it wasn't. It's not the same as a foreign military invading the US to take some one out. The US and Pakistan, since, well after we supplied that country in billions of dollars, and everything else, have been practicing military exercises in the war on the Taliban and extremists operating in Pakistan. I don't know how if they find him, the whole reason why we are there in the first place is equivalent to say Mexico leading a search and destroy operation for a wanted Columbian within US borders.

While I do not quite understand your entire post, I personally find it exactly the same.

As for your argument that the US supplied Pakistan with money in the past, then perhaps Germany has the right to invade Greece now since it has helped it with the credit crisis. Alternatively, Japan should be given a voucher to undertake covert missions in the US, for supplying them with electronics equipment over the last decades.

You honestly think that it would be ok with the United States government and people, if Mexican special forces invaded deep into a US location undetected and took out a columbian drug dealer? I respectfully disagree....

Hmmm...I would say Osama was a very shadowy person and I think he was just a pawn playing a certain role in this whole "anti-nuclear, anti-terrorist" war. After all, he WAS a CIA operative
