Super injunction, premiership footballer, BB contestant and twitter....

Has anyone else been following this? The worst kept secret

I have seen lots of Facebook statuses today cleverly hinting as to which footballer it is yet twitter is being sensored and twitter HQ is being asked to reveal the users who have revealed his name.

So... Where do we stand now? If I mention this footballer (or at least the rumored footballer) will the super injunction reach as far as a forum like this? How does anyone expect to censor such gossip from social networking sites and such like?

The worlds gone mad

Should it rhyme with "Brian Biggs" for example?

LOL. Struggling to find a rhyme that works with the "famous actor" who has a similar injunction.

The guy's a prat. If he had just left it alone no one would be talking about him. It's going to cost him millions in legal fees to try to keep it quiet, and all his lawyers are doing are hitting the proverbial bees nest with a very big stick.

Re: Super injunction, premiership footballer, BB contestant and twitter....

After much speculation that he was going to put out a weakened side against Blackpool, Sir Alex Ferguson tonight submitted the following team sheet:

1. Edwin Van der Sar
3. Patrice Evra
6. Wes Brown
12. Chris Smalling
23. Jonny Evans
24. Darren Fletcher
18. Paul Scholes
11. Top Flight Premiership Footballer
8. Anderson
13. Ji Sung Park
9. Dimitar Berbatov

just one of many

So you're saying it's Ryan Streisand or Barbra Giggs? Or both?

From the legal point of view, they cant do anything to the individual who mentions it but they can try and claim damages of the site for not moderating the sites correctly. It happened in 2003 in the USA cant remember the case but i briefly touched it whilst studying law

Is anyone allowed to disclose who the Top Flight BB Contestant is? That seems to be a better kept secret (from me at least!) than the footballer's identity.

Re: Super injunction, premiership footballer, BB contestant and twitter....

The girl involved is Imogen Thomas. She has been named in the news reports so I assume she doesnt have a super injuction. In her job as a model she did gigs in Manchester, apparently.

The other interesting super injunction one I heard was Euan McGregor entertaining the same Prostitute that Rooney frequents. Lovely

Twiitter is a US site. Where is the jurisdiction? What was Twiiter supposed to do to monitor the sites correctly?

Re: Super injunction, premiership footballer, BB contestant and twitter....

The serious side of this , is that a consitutional battle between the judges and Parliament is being set. I for one think these injunctions are silly, and made mainly for the wealthy. I hope Parliament stands up and defends the British Bill of Rights over the EU Human Rights Act, which is part of the basis for these ridiculous injunctions.

Because it is alleged she was trying to sell him photographs of the two together for an extortionate sum, threatening to sell them to the press instead if he didn't want to buy them.

"Blackmail victims deserve anonymity, blackmailers don't deserve anonymity" is presumably what the judge decided.

I couldn't possibly comment (but if someone finds a good rhyme for "McGregor" let me know ;-) Much harder than "Biggs" for a footballer)
