Common kids, you all made some experiences abroad. Just as there are no "the Swiss" are Germans not one single culture. Just as Geneva differs from Zurich, do local attitudes in Germany differ as well. Berlin is famous for the "Berliner Schnauze" - the "Berlin gob" of its citizens. The local culture is to be direct and open in a fairly extreme way. I can very well imagine how this must be quite a culture shock for a Brit... concluding that "Germans call this lying" is rubbish, you can keep your incompetent, useless pseudo-journalists who call us rude!

For the record (and those who read the article till the end): During my last beach vacations have I seen far more Arsenal- than Bayern- towels reserving chairs at the pool long before breakfast... I sometimes thought some Brits put them there after their last beer in the night already.

(I could not care less and never understood why people want to sit at a pool if you spend thousands to fly to some stunning beach... but that's just me.)
