I'm not that tech savvy, I have a phone where I email, google, facebook and track my husband through that handy little google ap (he started it). Then I have an Nook converted to get emails, read books go on the web etc., but I can't use it as a phone. I have different phones for different countries - all those rules! It is so annoying when you have to download the bar code air travel ticket to multiple phones.

But I am very attached to my kidneys, which are not in great shape, but if I could I would kiss them every night before I go to sleep.
Maybe I will get a kidney dialysis ap for my phone? A little brain scanner would also be helpful and a breathalyzer ap for anyone who wants to drive me.

Maybe we should start an ap thread?

I suppose some kids would kill for an iPad, at least this boy didn't hurt others to get his. I don't think it would go down well as part of an iPad marketing campaign though. What would you give for an iPad?

well atleast some desperate person that was on the organ waiting list got a real special gift when they recieved the call to show up at the hospital to get a new kidney. The kids an idiot, but how did those "illegal agents" get the kid to the hospital and I guess they faked being his parents or smth to get him cut open without asking any questions....nyway, I dont think 3k or 4k is enough to give away something sooo many people need because if it fails, its off to the dialasis machine....

The kid is an idiot, but the agents and the medical staff are criminals.
I hope that the mother will get the necessary backing and support to sue them and get them behind bars. (especially as it is very likely that they do this on a regular basis- the poor sadly, rarely have clout). Of course the recipient has to be very rich.

Must say I find it bizarre (sick?) that people can make a joke out of this. If you knew a very close friend or relative with diseased kidneys, I'm not sure you would. Really.

17 is an age when you are not even considered old enough to have consensual sex with an adult, or even buy alcohol/cigarettes in some countries, let alone sell your kidney . Agreed he is an idiot, but more importantly he is a kid; a clear case of exploiting poverty and immaturity. Hope the criminals go behind bars.

My Aunt almost died last year because of a kidney failure. The waiting list was so long that she was at the very very end of her life when they finaly jumped her to the top of the list and got kidneys at the very last minute.

Because her situation was so extreme and critical, it took her a long time to recover. I was going to travel there as a potential giver but sadly, we weren't compatible.

Sadly, the majority of donors are people close to others who find themselves in a life threatening situation. Taking the topic at a bit of a tangent here, but I really think we should have a system where donation is automatic in case of fatal accident, unless one has specifically opted out.
However, opting out should mean just that - if you opt out of giving, you should be 'opted out' of receiving too.
