Maybe his time could be better spent publicising the fate of the Pakistani informers who helped the CIA and have now been locked up by an extremely embarrassed ISI. They'll probably be dead before the week's out.

Great bunch the ISI. They quite like killing journalists too.

from today's paper
"A Pakistani doctor Dr Shakeel Afridi accused of helping the CIA to track down Osama bin Laden should be charged with high treason, a Pakistani state commission has recommended."

So tracking down a major terrorist is high treason; sounds like the ISI officially knew bin Laden was there?

They probably did. However the doctor was a complete idiot in not thinking about the consequences of his actions ( it is a defacto military state after all ).

So what is to happen to him? He has undermined the work of legitimate health agencies, led the Americans to the hideout of a known terrorist who was probably being actively aided by the ISI, embarrassed the Pakistani government and made the Pakistani authorities look like idiots.

Somehow, I don't think he will be needing a pension plan.

About "made the Pakistani authorities look like idiots" - I think the authorities managed that pretty well themselves.

If they did not want to look like idiots they should have given the doctor an award & pretended the whole bin Laden episode was an official Pakistan govt. supported venture.

p.s. agree about the pension plan.
