You mean it was retracted and denied later after all the fuss was made ?

Two plausible versions of events, you choose which one you want to believe.

From what I have read, the newspaper isn't denying the events happened. Saying that condemning the dog isn't justified does not refute the dog was condemned. Clever wording on their part, seems they are stuck between the truth and some very strong influence.

Major international news organisations don't all retract a story and apologise because the accused denies the events. The events didn't happen. The primary source has retracted, which means they admit they basically made it up.
