| | Jerusalem Rabbi's "Condemn dog to death by stoning"
A Jewish rabbinical court condemned to death by stoning a stray dog it feared was the reincarnation of a lawyer who insulted its judges, reports say. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13819764
WTF are these people in such influencial positions on? If this is true then I give up |

When you say court, is it the court of Judy? Is it a court of teenagers proposing fictional cases and arguing possible results, one way or the other, no matter how extreme the ending, as an exercise of their judicial arguing skills?
Then that's OK. Have you read the old Testament? This dog stoning thing pales in comparison with the other "useful" bits of "law" in there.
One of my personal favorites is if a man rapes a woman, he has to marry her, there by for the rest of existence a woman who is raped then has to serve the rapist as "punishment" for him.
Otherwise he can pay the father a sum for stealing her virginity, but now as she is not a virgin, and there fore of no pure use, she will never be married, and jump into old hag status.
It's not until Jesus comes along where things start to lighten up.
The Old Testament doesn't contain anywhere, I think, the following text "those without sin may cast the first stone".

Did you see they ordered children to carry out the stoning?
Hmm, who tried that same tactic of getting children to be involved in cruelty to animals in an organized state, to later harness that cruelty into an organized state? I can't remember the name of the organization, nor the country, but I am sure they existed pre 1945...
Happy Ending, the dog outwitted the judges and the children and escaped before they could execute him. Apparently the Law or intelligence of the dog, superseded those who pass and try to enforce archaic ideals.

This is a very minor religious court, not a secular court. If they kill a dog they will be investigated by the police an fined or sent to jail in the same way as anyone else who committed animal cruelty. You can find weird-beards anywhere, these are just a few.

If this wasn't so horrific, it would be laughable. Thank goodness the cute little dog escaped.

The newspaper which first published it apologized.

1. I didn't think that Jews believed in reincarnation.
2. The rabbinical court should be arrested for cruelty to animals.
3. I hope the dog gets reincarnated as a malaria-infected mosquito and comes back to bite them all.

I think the reason for condemning the dog was fabricated, to cover his true crime of peeing on someone else's grass. Unfortunately when a second opinion was sought from the EF jury, they were unavailable because they were still "out" deliberating another case.
