Two Jags is also onto it. He's posted a link to one of those petitions on his twitter and brought it up in the house of Lords. Here's the discussion http://news.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/...00/9530945.stm |

Ford have pulled their advertising from News of the World. Several other companies are considering their position. This would be really damaging for them.

Apparently Holly Well and Jessica Chapman's phones (or parents phones?) may have been involved in this too.
Absolute gutter journalism.

Absolute gutter journalism. | | | | | The worst part is that the News of the World admit they paid members of the police-force for information.
So now we can't even trust the fuzz anymore
Or maybe there's even worse in the pipeline.

I stopped reading newspapers and most on-line news sites some time ago and I'm a lot happier as a result. I even avoid the news on TV if I can. Mainly because the sound to noise ratio is too low these days. Most of the "journalism" is about celebrity gossip and the latest scary story, neither of which I find interesting.
This is just one more reason to justify my actions. The media will continue to stream drivel at us just as long as we let it. Stop buying their merchandise and they may just change their ways.

I suggest its now not tabloid but hemmaroid press and I think if they are not all fired then they should be. I applaud Ford for cancelling advertising and encourage all the other advertisers in those toilet papers to do the same. Absolute scum of the earth.

Every major news story over the last ten years can expect the call from Inspector Knacker: "You too."

7/7 Families now.
Whilst appaling for the families involved, i've gotta say I am loving this and have my deck chair & popcorn ready for the head of that witch Brooks to roll & others. These f++kers have had this coming for decades.
Talk about Karma.

I'm not condoning what they did, but is this any different to whats always happened, still happening, then it was mobile phones, years ago it was paper mail, now it facebook etc
given that most people set there security to high on facebook, the papers and tv news always seem to be able to show the victims full facebook pages.
Also given that the guy employed to do this was sent down years ago, and the police didn't bother to notify people then, you have to ask why they have been sitting on this until now, anything to do with NI takeover of sky perhaps? or someone protecting them is no longer in power?? I'll get my foil hat
have a simple or default password and someone, somewhere will take a look.

No matter what you think of her (and I assure you, it ain't a lot!) or the way she courts publicity, Jordan still has as much right as victims families to certain privacies if she chooses, and one of those rights - [supposedly] protected by law - is being able to text & talk on your private mobile freely without people illegally listening in.

I suppose the revelations coming from the NotW scandal are a surprise to some, however, how many of us expect the media to actually tell us the truth? Some lose sight of the fact that the media business is just that: a business. Much like any other business it seeks to market a product and sell it for a profit. Why let a minor detail such as truth get in the way? Or worse, why worry about morals, ethics or plain socially acceptable behaviour prevent getting at what the media always tell us that we the public have a right to know: the story!
Personally I don't often read a newspaper, I check several news websites most days and then take what i read with a liberal sprinkling of salt.
I can also attest that I've bought a copy of the NotW or any other "redtop" style paper - I'd rather read the Beano and would probably end up better informed anyway.
I think that in this case though NI has gone somewhat beyond the pale and there should most definitely be some repercussions - I don't mean a minor slap on the wrist followed by a don't do it again warning, I mean that heads should roll. The best outcome might be forced closure of the NotW but that's unlikely to happen and would in any case be (rightly) regarded as infringement upon civil liberties.
For those of you that still labour under the belief that the media tell us the truth I can recommend this chap: http://adrianmonck.com/books/
