It was an excellent example of NoTW journalism. | | | | | Many thanks, they read that and offered me a column actually, but I decided to go for a job that weighed slightly less on my conscience, so i've moved to Tehran to be an executioner.

I was going to buy the NotW this Sunday to see what they have to say about it.
Then I thought "Hang on..."

| | Re: News of the world phone hacking - Milly Dowler | Quote: | | | | | Would be most interesting to see how this affects the NotW sales figures this weekend. Hope it's about as popular nationally as the Snu is in Liverpool. | | | | | It's an interesting point that I'm surprised hasn't been brought up before.
I'm a Liverpool supporter and after the Hillsborough disaster the S*n printed under a front page headline of "THE TRUTH" a load of made up rubbish, including: -
- Some fans picked pockets of victims
- Some fans urinated on the brave cops
- Some fans beat up PC giving kiss of life
There were 96 fatalities that day. Can you imagine reading that after your son or daughter had died. Maybe worse has been those families haven't really had justice in any kind of police investigation, and many people even today think the fans were at fault and caused the disaster.
The S*n wasn't the only paper to print these lies, but the others admitted they got it wrong. It was 2004 before the S*n issued a belated appology, this after 15 years, and then only because sales on Merseyside have been very poor. The former editor of the S*n has since renounced the appology. All other people, even Brian Clough, have agreed the fans weren't responsible.
Together with the events at the NOTW it's clear to see that the organisation - News International - is to blame rather than just the paper.
I wish politicians would stand up and be men and break up News International instead of cozy up to them as both Cameron and Blair have done.
I wish even more that people would take note of what happened in Merseyside and not buy this $hit. Why on earth would anyone buy any of these comics which are full of hurtfull lies, and peddled by worthless scum?

Yes there were 96 bereaved families after the Hillsborough disaster BUT the readers of the Sun and the News of the World are, for the most part, only interested in pickpockets and cops being peed on, and the press panders to that because that's what sells their crap newspapers.
Yesterday, apparently, statistically, there were more people reading about giant wombats discovered in Australia than were reading about the Milly Dowler horror.
We get the sort of gutter-press we deserve in the UK, unfortunately |

I hope this doesn't make the police investigation 'disappear' though, justice must still be served.

Call me cynical, but this looks to me like a neat commercial decision. I wonder how long it will be before another News International Sunday tabloid is created to take its place. New brand, new start, without any of the immoral baggage.

Who's going to investigate the police, the police?

There are a guestimated 4000 victims according to some accounts.
Do the maths on that.
