Me too - and I loathe the slimy little git.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day my nation will rise up and say No! This is not the press we deserve.

I have a dream that in the red tops of Wapping, brave voices will adopt the mantra of Meatloaf; I would do anything for news, but I wont do that.

I have a dream that even the state of Westminster, a desert place prone to cronyism and corruption, will prize principle above penetration.

I have a dream that my four little god-children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by a phone-on or panel of nomarks, but by the quality of their character away from the camera.

I have a dream that one day, the people will care more about Chen Jianping than Cheryl Cole, take more interest in Jetsun Pema than Jordan.
I have a dream today.

Or maybe I'm just dreaming.
Yes, that's it, you're just dreaming, but enjoy it.
The nightmares start when Murdoch takes over BskyB.
Lovely post though, and I certainly enjoyed that.

Especially for you StirB.
Steve Coogan (and Greg Dyke) laying into NOTW journalist Paul McCullen on Newsnight.

I loved the irony of Rebekah Brooks and Rupert Murdcoh being hounded by paps and journos on the way to their meal the other day. See how you like it, you scumbags.

a) Murdoch turned up at the NotW after all the staff had left- what an effin coward
b) they were all three: murdoch fossil and son and Brooks enjoying the whole joke that 200 innocent people were about to sign on and they were off for dinner

Total arsewipes

From the Graun's news blog, haha...

2.47pm: Sky News's Alistair Bunkall has just tweeted:
Rebekah Brooks has just left News International HQ in a black Lexus. Can't be 100% sure but looked like she was reading the Guardian.

Now if only someone can sprinkle the same shrivel-slug-salt over the Daily Mail, I will open something suitable to celebrate - one of those little handbag-sized bottles of prosecco, perhaps - I think it's called a Dacre.

Now it seems the Sun and Sunday Times were snooping into Gordon Broon's bank and hospital records. Whether anything illegal was done is as yet unknown. I would probably guess "yes".

And Prince Charles' and Camilla's phones seem to have been hacked, so maybe we'll hear even more gory details about how he'd like to be her Tampax. Can't wait

Some of what they did was definitely illegal.

They posed as representatives of Mr Brown on more than one occasion to obtain financial documents.

I am sure that impersonating people is a crime, as impersonating a police officer definitely is, so i assume impersonating or pretending to be affiliated to the prime minister must be a pretty serious offense.

To use a Chris Morris term, in NI, this corruption is now widerife.

No no its okay really, News International said they were "comfortable" with the way the information was obtained and called for all information in the inquiry to be forwarded to them.

Right at this moment, the Metropolitan Police's Assistant Commissioner, John Yates, is being question in Westminster by the Home Affairs Select Committee, chaired by M.P Keith Vaz.

Re: News of the world phone hacking - Milly Dowler

During the emergency debate yesterday, good old Dennis Skinner asked, "Isn't it time based upon the British public's reaction, that we sent this non-tax paying Murdoch back from whence he came, and for the final humiliatiion get the Secretary of State for Energy to drive him to the airport?"

The Secretary of State for Energy is Chris Huhne who's being investigated by the police for allegedly getting his then wife to take his speeding points onto her license.

Quality!

Re: News of the world phone hacking - Milly Dowler

There are now, apparently, some 10,000 mobile phones and landlines which were, apparently, hacked into and less than 200 are currently being investigated.
Mind-boggling

Re: News of the world phone hacking - Milly Dowler

Well Cameron's finally coming round from being caught on the backfoot.
He's now going to support the Labour motion calling on Murdoch to stop pursuing his acquisition on B SkyB.
Seems from politcal commentators that his allegiance to his cronies and old associates has upset some top Tories who didn't like the fact that he let lesser offenders go to the wall during the MPs expenses but then sticks up for Andy Coulson.

But US media are picking up on the UK story and finding out if hacking was taking place in the US following September the 11th.
Murdoch's bought back substantial amounts of News Corp's stock to help steady the share price.

BREAKING NEWS

Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. withdrew its bid to take over British satellite broadcaster BSkyB Wednesday in the face of widespread public and political anger at the company over allegations of illegal eavesdropping and police bribery by some of its British newspaper journalists.
The pull out halts for now Murdoch's plans to create Britain's largest media company by acquiring the satellite broadcaster. News Corp. had been seeking to buy the 60.9% of the BSkyB shares it does not already own.

(sorry Louis, but good to see BBC beat CNN to the punch)

No problem :-)

Personally I wouldn't be satisfied with this response from NI. It's an action that saves them the embarrasment of either having to bow to the will expressed in the Parliament vote today or having to press on regardless but it does nothing to in any way exonerate their actions in the phone hacking and other dubious practices of their "journalism" or muck raking they specialise in.
