| | Royal Couple in US and Canada
I am British, but I am wondering what William and Catherine are doing there - apart from watching rodeos, attending Hollywood events, wearing lots of frocks (her - not him, hopefully) and smiling and waving an awful lot.
The sycophantic news reports make me want to puke!
Promoting Britain?? Pleeease!!
Promoting outmoded aristocracy? Definitely!! |

I generally don't have a problem with the British royals, I think the money they generate from tourism etc means they earn their keep. However the BBC news coverage of the Canada trip makes me want to reach for the sick bucket. It really is too much to see them on every news show and on the BBC website comparing dresses with Di & Queenie . People willbe bored of them in 5 minutes at this rate.

He had no choice in that but she did, Kate knew what she was marrying into. | Quote: | | | | | maybe they are just on holiday....and where ever they go an event will be made of it....imagine having their lives....never a moment of privacy..... | | | | | |

He is the upcoming potential "head of state". Part of their job is to visit the commonwealth colonies. First official foreign trips to Canada are fairly common with the royal family.
Plus the Calgary Stampede is a sick party.

State visit, building and cementing relations etc etc. Much the same as Obama/Sarkozy or whoever visiting the UK. At the moment, Kate and Wills are the best thing the Royal family has going for it at the moment. Personally, I think they'll make a cracking King and Queen.

Pretty sure it's not PC to call them colonies anymore
They are nations in their own right.

True. I always still refer to them as 'colonies' in a humorous sense, forgot that it doesn't always translate in typing.
That being said, if he becomes king, he will be the Canadian Head of State unless there's some useless sweeping referendum in Canada.

Which is far cooler anyway as it sounds like something from Narnia.

This is the problem with 24 hour news, they have nothing to do most of the time apart from talk about this sort of non event, its just a holiday, and William wont be the next king for aaaaages, maybe never, that squinty eyed jug eared inbred looking one they call Prince Charles will be the next king after the queen snuffs it. Wrong family anyway, bring back the Stewarts!

This is subjective but there's no personality apart from W. Tell that I associate with Switzerland. I have never seen any adverts abroad for this country as a holiday location. When you're in the country you get brainwashed by the items Wolli posted (plus the flag) and that's what sticks with you when you leave. Everything happens within Switzerland, they rarely represent the country internationally.
