Such a talented artist, such a sad story. I never got a chance to see her perform live, but I always thought it would end this way.
Sad indeed, but obvious such a waste...
She attempted to chat me up once back stage at a gig about 10 years ago, must have be right at the start of her career success, she was off her head even then swigging Jack from the bottle, but some would say she had to be! lol
I can't say that this news comes as much of a surprise, she's been in a bad way for as long as I can remember. It was evident that she was on a total self destruct course.
It's nonetheless a life lost, and a tragedy for her family and fans.

True
It was just a matter of time

There should have been a thread started on this, and that was it. Commenting on something so obviously wrong, from breaking thru with a hit called "rehab" to this self fulfilling building of the more she took, the ,more it concurred with this problem, the more it sold records.
She was talented, but discovering that writing songs about depression, addictions, and love, could lead to a success only fulfilling by acting them out to support the songs, it would only lead to this. She is one of my favorite artists of the last several years, but remember she had albums before this last one, and they weren't about being a scoundrel or helplessly in love, or substance abuse, and she didn't act out those ideas like she did with the one everyone knows...it's too bad she couldn't of turned it around, but it's not surprise to me.

Her last concert (Belgrade), she obviously needed help.
I still have a copy of the BBC's 'Live from the Hammersmith Apollo' video that showed Amy Winehouse at her best (at the beginning of the gig, before she was totally blasted), then getting continuing to get more and more drunk through the set, to finally slumping off the stage without even waiting for any applause.
