The elephant in the room, you guys blind to it, avoiding it, petting it, riding it, identified with it?
In my experience, the very ages and types perpetrating the trashing spend a large part of their time and money hunched over "smart" phones, pad-pods and computers, texting, "social networking", porn drooling, playing first-person-shooters and online games. In between they are watching the most violent, pornographic, rotten stuff they can find online, on blu-ray, DVD or TV. Real life and "normal" people are to be avoided at all cost, other than to exploit or screw.
All pumped up with long stored and unspent adrenalin, how much of a jump is it down the stairs and a hike to the high street, joining up with their social network to spend all that pent up energy and play out all their fantasies in real life in a raging orgy on real people and their property?
Where are you going to point your finger? It's everybody who has contributed to, profited from or participated in this huge illusory and violent world that has now come down to earth to burn your houses, grab your property and rape your women and children.
Think finding somebody to blame is going to change anything? No way mate, it's not going to disappear after some election or police action. You're going to have to grab the monster by its hairy balls yourself, wherever you encounter it in your own life. Wake TF up.
I knew it. It was violent video games all along. Phew. Now we can just ban those and get back to selling tracksuits and carpets.
I can see where he's coming from.. Why I was playing Donkey Kong only last night, and this morning I saw a little Italian bloke with a moustache walking past me in the street.. and nearby there was a stack of barrels.. needless to say he is now nursing a very bad headache. THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IF IT WASN'T FOR THOSE EEVVIILL GAMES. BAN THEM. BAN THEM NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.

Thanks for the link. The man is facing horror but reveals "format" and a fighting spirit. Sounds as if the business will go on. And if 50% of the business is still intact they of course have a basis to continue.
Dear Rim;
You Will _NOT_ assist the UK Police because if u do innocent members of the public who were at the wrong place at the wrong time and owned a blackberry will get charged for no reason at all, the Police are looking to arrest as many people as possible to save themselves from embarrassment... if you do assist the police by giving them chat logs, gps locations, customer information & access to peoples BlackBerryMessengers you will regret it, we have access to your database which includes your employees information; e.g - Addresses, Names, Phone Numbers etc. - now if u assist the police, we _WILL_ make this information public and pass it onto rioters... do you really want a bunch of angry youths on your employees doorsteps? Think about it... and don’t think that the police will protect your employees, the police can’t protect themselves let alone protect others.... if you make the wrong choice your database will be made public, save yourself the embarrassment and make the right choice. don’t be a puppet.. p.s - we do not condone in innocent people being attacked in these riots nor do we condone in small businesses being looted, but we are all for the rioters that are engaging in attacks on the police and government... and before anyone says "the blackberry employees are innocent" no they are not! They are the ones that would be assisting the police - TriCk - TeaMp0isoN -
Well, come on then! I'm hanging on your every word, and I do mean that.
It's a long and complex story that started with marvellous ideals and visions for a better more equal Britain for every member of society. "A land fit for heroes" was the rallying call. But with hindsight everything we have done has made it worse.
The welfare state stripped us of personal responsibility for our collective futures. From 1948 onwards the government gradually became our parents. Comprehensive schools followed and an education system that chopped and changed every couple of years and still is unable to address the inequalities. Political correctness chopped our balls off. Council housing and tower blocks concentrated the problem.
Add to this cocktail a country in long-term decline, loss of empire and colonies and witnessed the rise of the east. Trade unions did much the same as the rioters are doing now and destroyed their workplaces. The Thatcher years swerved to increased divisions - as ironically did the Blair years.
The country needed more money to finance the welfare state properly, but we simply do not have the tax revenues to do this. Add family breakdown, the decline of religion, video nasties, violent video games and 100s of other factors - and we end up with a youth that doesn't understand what is wrong and what is right. A youth that thinks it's fun to smash, burn and steel.
That's just scratching the surface of a very complex situation for which I see no quick or easy solution. It was significant that a police spokesman appealed to mothers to keep their kids in off the streets tonight. And the fathers??

Is this really your experience? Where are you from?
Any persons convicted of criminal acts during the current London riots should have all financial benefits removed. No tax payer should have to contribute to those who have destroyed property, stolen from their community and shown a disregard for the country that provides for them.
Remove benefits and starve the people already living below the breadline ?
...and achieve what ?
Exactly. Which is why I said it's interesting the way people are reacting. They think this sounds like a good idea, without actually thinking about it.
So cuts in services, youth centers closed, couple this with the facts; Tottenham has the highest unemployment rate in London 18% overall but higher among teens, those that do find jobs are usually on minimum wage, four in five children are born into poverty. All this while the rich in the UK get richer. The richest 10% are 100 times better off than the poorest.
The looters are attacking mainly retail stores,
Quote:
Rioters need jobs, says Carpetright's Lord Harris
Lord Harris of Peckham, the chief executive of Carpetright, the store that was destroyed in the Tottenham riots on Saturday night, has called on the Government to do more to provide jobs for young people.
He said part of the cause for the violent scenes in London had been caused by youth unemployment.
"If you get someone working, they are less trouble. When you get a lot of children, and these were mostly children, who have nothing to do, who can't find jobs, their only way of living is probably thieving and getting money off [benefits]."
