No I don't think that the level of force n the Middle East can be compared to the UK. However there are some similarities when it comes to corruption in government- who is really doing the looting in the UK, Surely this MP and others (I don't care which party) should be immediately arrested and thrown in jail? He's a barrister so he really should know better.
Did this chap destroy someone's home or livelihood?

Who knows? A couple of hundred pounds can be make or break for some people living on the breadline It looks like this Barrister cum MP has pilfered 100,000's over the years. That money could have gone towards businesses, programmes etc. It may have even gone to youth centres to help keep the mobs off the streets. It may even have helped one of his tenants.

When you think that he is not the only MP doing this, then you can imagine how much money is taken from the people's coffers. He is as guilty if not more and should be banged up with the rest of them in the full to breaking point prisons. The conditions in UK prisons may soon have something in common with Middle East.

I really dont know how anyone can ever compare the destruction and inhumane actions that went on in London to the very civilized way of peaceful demonstrations that took place in Tahrir square. Even if you didnt bother to read and follow the Egyptian revolution here are a couple of pictures that show the difference.

Egyptians showed the world how to REVOLT in peace,,, and they owned it!!!

Pictues are nice, but facts are better - There were at least 800 dead in Egypt, 5 in London. I hope your PhD is not based on Pictures.
