| | Anonymous to 'own' Facebook!
Anyone else starting to feel that whilst their objectives are mostly with merit, they are just a bunch of lonely nerds who crave attention?

Hmm, interesting. Sounds as though they got Stephen Hawking to voice for them or borrowed "Wopr".
November 5th might be interesting

I hate Facebook. All the nerdy types around Boston were of the same opinion back before it became a household word. Anonymous is correct as to what they're doing wrt all the information that people put out there so publicly. The same goes for LinkedIn and others.
I hope they do it and I only wish I could help. Die Facebook, Die!

BUT if anyone is stooopid enough to post their real name, real address on there they deserve to be tracked by the FB-I. Anonymous come across as a tad self-righteous to me.

I find facebook rather useful - I have a lot of friends and family in the US that would be otherwise hard to stay in touch with. I could find them, no problem, but it's the keeping in touch that's not as easy.
I don't agree that Anonymous has the right idea. I don't like their stance of "we know better than you, and we're going to do it anyway." I guess I don't like Terrorists of any sort.

I used to work with the guy from the UK (not a newbie to IT) who tried to remove his account and they refused, claiming his account was their property and it took Channel 4 and the UK government getting involved to get it done.
Anon is a bit on the asshat side of the attitude scale, but anyone wanting to take out FB gets a pass from me. |

If you use facebook to post self-important status updates then yes, it can die.
If you use it to keep in touch with friends that a world away, then its great
But seriously, the people who hate on facebook are usually the people who are about as douchie as the people who post self-important status updates. They're the new hipsters (I hated facebook before it was cool to hate it. For real...)
Edit: I can imagine Anon are of a similar ilk. Using IRC instead because its retro or somethin

It would die it's own natural death soon anyway so I don't mind anon giving it a bit of a push.
And to add to my douchie-ness, I still use ircii for IRC...for real! Do I gets a prize?

Most invites to birthday parties or catch-ups are run through fb. It also allows people who are not completely computer literate to connect to friends that are. | Quote: | | | | | And to add to my douchie-ness, I still use ircii for IRC...for real! I think FB is crap, its invasive on ones privacy and the world can work perfectly well without it.I think its more moronic to believe you cannot keep in touch with your friends and family without FB -you can.Its called email.

I prefer hand written letters folded in neat ways and stuffed into an envelope that was sealed using saliva and then franked with an air mail stamp (preferably also adhered at the backside with the use of saliva).

I seems that LinkedIn is picking up some "bad habits" from FB concerning third-party advertising.
If you use LinkedIn, you might want to review your settings.

To be sure: the Facebook membership list is a list of the world's drones and is representative of fat, Western fecklessness....but I don't like these Anonymous people either. It all seems like two groups of geeks who were bullied in highschool trying to flex what pathetic muscles they have. All it takes is for them to be located, dragged into the back of a van and slapped around a bit....
