That's not technology

Underneath the skin it has hardly changed for 50 years. They just dress it up to look good.

But fair point.

Apple is the Ferrari and Cartier of the computing and media world.
Could we not find a watch manufacturer that uses someone else's mechanism and just packages it up differently?

The real success of apple only started when they swallowed their pride and started using intel processors.

Dyson has an umistakeable coolness factor.

But is it genuinely first class design? I don't think so.
It was certainly innovative. Didn't they sue Hoover over the bag less patent dyson had.

I can't think of any watches, but in cars there are quite a few brands that are just repackaged stuff with some extras. Maybach for example, or Phaeton.

You jest, just about all watches fit that bill, very few companies make there own mechs, even some of the premium brand use brought in mechs

But is it genuinely first class design in the same drool league as Apple? I don't think so.
Don't know - I think they do the same thing Apple does: they take ideas that have been around for a long time, make them work in a stylish and easy-to-use way and sell the result as a premium product.

We have ourselves a hipster.

'I liked Apple computers before they were popular...in fact before they were called Apple '
I'm no hipster, but I do still have the Apple II my dad and I soldered together.

Hey, after all the years of being taunted by PC toting asshats, I can enjoy a gloat or two now and then.

Chairmanship passes on to long serving director, Arthur Levinson.
