British beat the "whoever" at time keeping
Nobody said that the British can't keep time.

The problem is that they just can't bloody do anything on time!!!

A Englishman does things in his own time and uses it as a reference not his master.

Perhaps FOCS1

FOCS 1, a continuous cold caesium fountain atomic clock in Switzerland, started operating in 2004 at an uncertainty of one second in 30 million years
  • Classification Clock
  • Industry Telecommunications, Science
  • Application GPS
  • Fuel Source Electricity
  • Powered Yes
  • Inventor US National Bureau of Standards
  • Invented 1949
I wasn't thinking what specific atomic clock was used to calculate the time, but which institution is charged with keeping Switzerland's official time. If there isn't one, do they simply check with Greenwich or a similar European centre outside Switzerland?

Not the English culture that I come from. I grew up doing things the Victorian way and if you were five minutes late for dinner it would be considdered to be a major insult to your host.

I set my watch on a morning, but the tram ride to work makes it slow.
