| | UN condemns Israeli illegal act and brutality
So the UN has published what most of us already knew. | Quote: | | | | A UN-appointed panel said today that Israeli forces violated international law, "including international humanitarian and human rights law", during and after their lethal attack on a flotilla of ships attempting to break the blockade of Gaza in May.
The UN Human Rights Council's fact-finding mission judged Israel's naval blockade of the Palestinian territory to be "unlawful" because there was a humanitarian crisis in Gaza at the time.
The panel's report, published today, described Israel's military response to the flotilla as "disproportionate" and said it "betrayed an unacceptable level of brutality". | | | | | http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010...aeli-brutality | This user would like to thank for this useful post: | | The following 3 users groan at for this post:

But don't worry, I am sure a replacement Israel-Palestine thread will be open soon...

The question is though... does Israel care? I don't think they do.

Turkey is kicking out Israeli diplomats, saying the Israel just lost their friendship.
We will see if what I say is complete and utter sh!te as you so eloquently say Weejeem. I have no idea why the Israel- Palestine thread was closed.
This new ( yet to be released report) is now basically saying that the blockade of Gaza ( a country where people are in desperate need) is legal. This will cause major problems.
In January 201l the Turkish government dismissed the Israeli report. | This user would like to thank for this useful post:

I've no idea what it means but you've just started a thread to quote a newspaper article from a year ago, despite today's news stating something altogether different AND after the closing of a long tired 92 page thread on more or less the same rigmarole - started by you - in which said information has already been discussed.
What's your interest in this Forum other than to troll Israel related threads?

You know what, EF just isn't the place for this sort of thread. I don't see much difference between the Muslim-bashing threads that are deemed unsuitable for EF, and the hoppy-sponsored Israel-bashing threads.
So, this thread is going the same way as any other similar threads that I may see starting up here on EF: to rapid closure.
Hoppy, if you want to post anything relevant to Switzerland -- anything at all -- you'd be most welcome.
