You know Parnell, you go around and put on the nose of everyone who you feel have been rude to you but what I see is you not being nice either and being actually plain insulting.

You didn't call us idiots, but it is quite the same...
Nil you in particular have made disaparaging remarks - which I have refused to return. I think a much more appropriate response is to demonstrate someone's hypocrasy and lack of logic - if one doesn't wish to have their argument torn apart when it can be DEMONSTRATED to be sexist/racist/inconsistent/malformed/wrong then perhaps an internet chatboard is not the place for them.

I have no problem in accepting another's point of view - to even the extent that they DEMONSTRATE that my view is wrong - in fact I celebrate that - since I learn something from the same. When some just neg me because I support an argument which they do not BELIEVE in - or because their friend makes a counter argument - then I just consider that behaviour silly - and if engaged in regularly enough - that person silly.

Anyway that's just my explanation for my onboard behaviour - you may choose to reject it and consider me simply to be a silly person - that's your choice - but you'll find that I'll stick consistently to it.

you called the actions of the teacher "intent of statutory rape"... the reason I was looking for it is that it is FALSE.

The age of consent in UK is SIXTEEN. The students in question were SEVENTEEN and EIGHTEEN. So, the teacher's "crime" is professional misconduct, that is all. Hence, the "light" sentence.
That's not true. See section 16 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, "Abuse of position of trust: sexual activity with a child".

IANAL, but I would assume he can appeal the sentence. I did think 18 months imprisonment was the maximum a magistrate could sentence, but Wikipedia implies that it's 6 months (or maybe 12 for multiple offences), so I don't know what happened here.
cba to reopen the link but I'm pretty sure it was 18 weeks. As you say, magistrates can't sentence someone to 18 months.

Not sure if I'm misinterpreting your caps but I think we're in agreement?
