Get off your Western high horse. There is nothing wrong about a culture where this is de rigueur. It's just different. Jeeez!

Tolerance, people. Tolerance!
Appenzel just gave women the right to vote in 1989? Saudis are just 30 20 years or so off, not too bad.

I kind of have to agree. It is a Kingdom, afterall. History has shown time and time again how to get rights from a monarch. It wasn't by asking nicely.

That's right. What you did was get your monarch is such financial and political trouble that he was forced to cede his rights to the Barons. That's when the rot set in in England.

Women driving in Saudi Arabia isn't the essential problem, they're all bad drivers out there. It's the parking that's the issue, I'd call it nomadic abandonment. You often see vehicles just left standing in the center of the road whilst the occupants just go off to do something else.

I thought the lady in question claimed to have a driving licence from another country plus an international driving licence which is legal in SA.

So I guess there is no message sent to people who drive without a licence?
