An infrastructure bank with 2% lending? Now that sounds like a good solution.

Well, it is the south. I think there is something in the water down there.

Re: Occupy America

Here is a pretty interesting article on the OWM and also people behind it. An interesting opinion and applies mainly to the 99% in the US.

Seing there are still many more people wanting to get into the US than wanting to get out, it can't be that bad. Maybe people need to get off their high horse more and accept less glamorous jobs.
If only it were so easy, I'm sure they would. There'll be a few who moan it's beneath their station; don't be distracted, the rest knuckle on with dignity.

The British Poll Tax Demonstrations worked, although I'm not sure I understand the question.

Not everyone is workshy, but recognising this means it becomes difficult to blame people who want to work for not finding work. I've been there twice and it's gruelling.

Perhaps it's not just the unemployed who feel the need to shake up the agenda by sending a political message that we're going to Helena Bonham Carter?

...People need to start taking accountability for their own actions, and stop thinking that how much credit they can get on their cards actually means more of their actual income, and live with in their means. My parent's generation only bought what they could afford, and would be embarrassed to have outstanding debt.
We need a population who'll not shy from being told the truth. Brave is the politician (or Moderator ah ha ha ha) who says the people need to grow up, take responsibility and consider consequences.

I just have enough understanding of history to recognise that a kilo of semtex is more effective than a million placards.
I'm for peaceful protest. Apparently it was arse cold all last night at Paradeplatz. Not all are dreadlocked, wingwormed middle class kids looking for a cause.

As for a kilo of Semtex: Oh hai Pakistan!

It's amazing that any of those people can be critical about the speed of which congress is moving. They all sound like sheep. Sure one democracy, stand united and all, but, when you have no order, I can't see how these sit-ins are going to do anything at all.

I have a feeling someone in red might've smoked down a bit too before grabbing that mega phone.

Again, half the problem is 'we' continue to have a Them & Us mentality. We're all in this together, regardless of sympathies or wealth.

For a good summary of what's wrong with America, see David Simon's speech. A great 1-hour listen:

David Simon is an ex-journalist and creator of such shows as Homicide, The Wire, and Treme.

All it would take is a Rage Against The Machine show to set this thing off.
Tom Morello has already played the world wide rebel song in both L.A and NY. Rumors of a flash Rage show are running high. (dont know if any are true or not)

And judging from how crazy their normal shows are I would have to say it wont be pretty thing with a crowd calling for revolution

Amusingly this whole "occupy" trend started in Vancouver, a city last famous for rioting after losing in hockey

Or did it start with the Arab Spring. And who said that a bunch a people standing around in a square won't accomplish anything?
