Re: Occupy America

Occupying Wall Street isn't going to lead to change. When the Unions striked for their rights it only led to those same very companies selling their jobs over seas.

You want change, you have to boycott companies that have sent jobs abroad.

When a business loses money they make the changes they need to survive. If you want to sell Americans, products with an American label on it, maybe it should be made there as well? Walmart flashes more American flags then anyone else, but they should put a chinese flag next to every product they sell that is from China.

It'll look like a Chinese May Day parade...or Chinatown at the very least.

I looked through those and found it lost me when they bash a guy in his 5th year of art school while working 2 jobs and just lost one of them. The current economic crisis isn't due to a bunch of American kids ass deep in debt trying to get an education that generally leads to a middle-class lifestyle. Granted, I think parents going 100k+ into debt to get an education for their child is a bit much, but that's an easy position for me to take since my daughter has a trust fund that, barring major banking calamity, should take care of her educational needs in the future. I feel lucky that I don't think my child will have the same challenges these kids do.

The kids who have been in university/community college in the past few years and are just graduating right now are seriously screwed as there simply aren't any jobs and you can't really pay rent and your debts working at 7-11 on minimum wage.

These kids aren't the cause of the financial crisis, they just bet on things getting better but, unlike bankers at GS and others, they're not going to get a bailout.

The cause of the financial crisis are the big kids playing "That's mine, you can't have it, that's mine too."

Oh...SNAP...except that the UK is way far down the OECD list on education. If you were Finland, maybe you could say that with some conviction.

I've not lived in the UK since...87, but the way you all make it sound of late, it's as if the country should be renamed Chav-istan. It's a pity as it was, and could be again, a great nation. I think the same of the US much of the time.

Call me crazy, but I'm fairly certain you have no clue what any of them are thinking, let alone collectively. Of course, I'd never dream of telling you that you're a complete idiot based on single post in an internet forum. That would be madness! It would be like I saw you walking down the street and said 'There goes one of those free-love hippie communists'

No, I don't know what every specific one is thinking. But from reading multiple news articles, seeing photographs of the banners being held up, etc. I can reasonably deduce their premises of wealth redistribution and fairness, both tired standards of the American Left and the "Less Fortunate"

It won't happen, the game is rigged. Our "owners" don't want that.
The miseducation of America

Charlotte Thompson Iserbyt served as the head of policy at the Department of Education during the first administration of Ronald Reagan. While working there she discovered a long term strategic plan by the tax exempt foundations to transform America from a nation of rugged individualists and problem solvers to a country of servile, brainwashed minions who simply regurgitate whatever they're told.

....from YouTube lunatics and old comics, you mean?

You have issues, my friend.....but I have met too of your type - guys and girls who make hats of tinfoil so the government can't steal your thoughts at night - to know that your paranoia goes beyond logic, probability and experience and so it is pointless trying to save you from your warm bath of the bogeyman and his minions.

Its a shame, because you seem so eloquent, and I wish I could help you see that the world is as screwed up as it appears and it is through the human frailties of our leaders.....not the secret cabals.

(Then you say I'm brainwashed.....and link to another lunatic....ad nauseam)

How do I respond.... Let me give you my background. My family has been part of the U.S military since its inception. We have countless Generals, Admirals, Officers, Statesmen, even a former President(s). I could have any job I wanted and be living the good life but I chose not to due to morality issues and I want to earn my own. Let me tell you that it is fact that there are secret cabals and our "system" runs more like a mafia than a republic. This is common knowledge. Every third president has been warning us about it. It open for the world to see you just need to look for it and you don't need a tin foil hat. A lot of the stuff on youtube is closer to the truth than not. Maybe they don't have it all right but they are in the ball park, and thats close enough to use it to inform people whats really going on.
This ski bum knows a lot more than where's the best place for Apre's ski.

Now here is a question. Who killed JFK? The clues are contained in this speech. And no, I am not joking.

That's pretty weird though, isn't it? I mean if you think about it, any mafia-style organization that can actually run the country ought to be powerful enough to elect their guy president, or at least make whoever does get elected keep his mouth shut. You'd also think they would be able to do something about all these truth-telling youtube channels.

Are 'they' that incompetent, and if so why should I or anyone else worry about them?

I'm anti-protest, but I'm certainly not pro-corporation.

I just have enough understanding of history to recognise that a kilo of semtex is more effective than a million placards.

I'm not anti-protest. I'm anti-protest without clear purpose. If I'm not sure what they want, Obama probably doesn't either
