Just playing devils advocate for a minute, but did these dictators really do anything 'that' bad? if you look at the surrounding countries they are in a perpetual state of war, where very very bad things happen on a daily basis, these guys get into power and bring relative peace, sure if you oppose them then bad things will happen to you, but for the normal man on the street you have a safe and stable life, are the amount of lives taken by these dictators more then having 40 years of fighting plus the lives lost in the west bombing them back into the dark ages and the inevitable civil war, only for another dictator to eventually rise out of the ashes. I really don't think so.

So I knew.

And I find the 'jubilation' over this barbaric execution without trial, completely sickening.

Positive is if they do get paid then they can start the next action; I would guess Syria or Yemen??

| | Re: Gaddafi The Former Libyan Leader is DEAD!!! | Quote: | | | | | The man is responsable of 1000s of death. He didn't deserve to be treated with respect.
BUT to kill him, humiliate him and drag his body around is barbaric. Somehow understandable considering the hate he created by keeping his population in a fear statement for over 40 years.
But they would have had better use of him alive and in front of the justice. Dead, he is not paying nor surfering for what he did.
Happy they got him but feel very uncomfortable of what they did to him. I would probably feel like them if I was a victim of his regime.
Hope something good will come out of this, hope Libya will have a better futur... Inshallah!
What is the problem? They did have the decency to wait until he was dead |

Anyway the UK and France are not so stupid to take such a short sighted move anyway... They would rather pretend it was all for the good cause of bringing democracy and liberating the Libyan people, and instead rely on long term trade contracts that will bring in those 2 billions or whatever many times over | This user would like to thank The_Love_Doctor for this useful post:

| | Re: Gaddafi The Former Libyan Leader is DEAD!!! | Quote: | | | | | Sorry Nil I do not think that allah will get much of a look in, first of all scores will be settled in the usual african way, only instead of pangas there are a lot of AK´s flying around, then the rebels will splinter along tribal lines and start fighting each other over control, the so-called tempory government will be seen as a western puppet as soon as the oil flows, some tribal groups will not like the other tribe getting the same oil benefits.
The usual stuff.
greed
envy
At the same time the religious coconuts will start to agitate and do thier god stuff.
We will see that some of the people will be longing for the stability, sorry "stability" of the gadaffy regime.
The lid is off and the pot will boil over.

SlammCyristalball, Copyright 2011 | | | | | Cute but Inshalla is an expression. In spanish they say Ojala which came from arabic. It means: Hopefully, let's hope, I hope...
I don't think Spaniards really believe that Allah will do something about it.
It is an expression. |

There is a precedent; Kuwait paid out after the West evicted Sadam.
Charging for services does not automatically mean you have low morals?
I see you are avoiding the elephant in the room which is this action was a UN security council decision; not a UK/France initiative.

I suppose if you were sitting in one of Gadaffi's jails having your finger nails pulled out or whatever was top of the menu that week it was very comforting to know Libya had the highest Human Development Index on the continent | This user would like to thank marton for this useful post:

Whenever the UK and France get together to play military games in the former colonies, has it ever been for any good other than their own?
