This makes no sense at all, are the NTC claiming that Gadaffi was not a Muslim?
No, they are saying that a high Imam (one who is allowed to issue a fatwa) decided that he does not want any religious place to become a place of pilgrimage for Gaddafi fans for decades to come.

The weird thing is that fatwas are typically not a secret, so why can't they just say who issued it and what it contains? That's what's fishy - but could just as well be a way to protect the imam from retaliation.

Re: Gaddafi The Former Libyan Leader is DEAD!!!

Gadaffi's Last Will and Testament

"This is my will. I, Muammar bin Mohammad bin Abdussalam bi Humayd bin Abu Manyar bin Humayd bin Nayil al Fuhsi Gaddafi, do swear that there is no other God but Allah and that Mohammad is God's Prophet, peace be upon him. I pledge that I will die as Muslim.

Should I be killed, I would like to be buried, according to Muslim rituals, in the clothes I was wearing at the time of my death and my body unwashed, in the cemetery of Sirte, next to my family and relatives.

I would like that my family, especially women and children, be treated well after my death. The Libyan people should protect its identity, achievements, history and the honourable image of its ancestors and heroes. The Libyan people should not relinquish the sacrifices of the free and best people.

I call on my supporters to continue the resistance, and fight any foreign aggressor against Libya, today, tomorrow and always.

Let the free people of the world know that we could have bargained over and sold out our cause in return for a personal secure and stable life. We received many offers to this effect but we chose to be at the vanguard of the confrontation as a badge of duty and honour.

Even if we do not win immediately, we will give a lesson to future generations that choosing to protect the nation is an honour and selling it out is the greatest betrayal that history will remember forever despite the attempts of the others to tell you otherwise."

You just have to read his incredibly long name to recognise the guy was "a sandwich short of a picnic" or "out to lunch" as our friends say.

There is a guy wearing a bullet proof vest and a kevlar helmet. Apparently that's enough to proof that he must be Nato as Libyans obviously only dress in rags when they go into a war zone...

Re: Hillary Clinton on Gaddafi's death.

What do you expect? Its a well known fact that the Clinton Administration supported Gaddafi and even gave him permission to conduct his 1996 Abu Salim prison cleansing. The US looked the other way, as did the French.

Ever notice that they don't even use the words "regime change" any more. They just joke about the murdered leaders like a bunch of adolescents. Reminds me of Beavis and Butthead. Clinton is the top diplomatic official in the US! The world is in really big trouble.

Re: Hillary Clinton on Gaddafi's death.

I was just reading today in an African publication about the difference in media coverage on the North African problems. The African press gives you a play by play of Obama and Sarkozy jockeying their local oil companies for position to get oil concessions. While the western media COMPLETELY ignores it.

The US State Dept gets about 3% of what ever deal will be struck in Libya. Thats what the Bush and Clinton Admins got. Why do you think she is so happy?

Can you give us a sample link to those articles? I'd be interested to have a look at that!

Saif reportedly captured

Quote:
Colonel Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam has been captured, officials from Libya's interim government have said.

Saif al-Islam was arrested near the town of Obari in the south of the country, the officials said.

The former leader's son would be the last key member of the Gaddafi family to be captured or killed.

I did not have much mercy or regret for his father, but in case of Saif-al-Islam Khaddafi I DO. He did lots of humanitarian help, in case of people taken hostage in the Southern Philippines, in case of the Tsunami in Southern Asia and in many other cases. Sure, he participated in the dictatorship of his family-clan. But his fate most likely will be horrible. I only fail to understand why he did not get over to Niger and stay in touch with DenHaag

Related Aussie article on Saif.

Quote:
Mr Peters, who said he had spoken to Saadi by telephone since returning to Canada and planned to return to Niger this weekend, defended his boss.

''If he was a mass murderer, then I wouldn't work for him,'' Mr Peters said. ''The man's a gentleman, non-violent.''
