| | Strange but true ... 3rd President in a week!
The tiny nation Nauru with less than 10,000 residents has its 3rd President within a week. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_Nauru More | The following 3 users would like to thank jrspet for this useful post: | |

Good job - be president for a week, then add that to your CV! It should be enough to give an advantage over other job candidates. ;-)

3 presidents in a week is a joke itself........ the real question is "what the hell is going on?"

Political instability is rarely a good sign. It really didn't occur to me that it possibly could be a joke in the OP's post. I absolutely didn't suspect a joke at all.
My mistake, I take the blame. |

Come on Faltrad !!!
3 presidents in a week for crying out loud.
Politically unstable or not.......... that is classic 'slapstick' political humour.
Name another country (without the future possibility of Italy) that has had 3 presidents in rapid succession?
Serious situation or not, that's still pretty funny.
I mean 10,000 residents........ at this rate, everyone in the country could have a crack at the title.

Faltrad, it took me 1.5hours to explore the whole island ( country I might add ). It is a well known place for money laundering, and the Executive ( President et. al. ) live in Melbourne almost on a permanent basis. The country is virtually at Australia´s mercy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauru%E...ssia_relations |

Off-topic as you possibly think about the Prime Ministers. The President however will remain the same. AND it looks as if Mr Monti is to establish a new government. So far so good. And let's be realistic, nobody expects Mr Monti to solve all the problems of his country, but to try to tackle some of the most urgents matters.

To have a "president-ad-interim" taking over business after the outgoing one left until the new one is elected is not such a bad thing.

My mistake, I take the blame. | | | | | Well, it's hard to NOT see the irony in that country - they were sitting on a pile of wealth. A lot of it, but limited. What would you do if you were the president some decades back?
Again: Nauru used to have the highest income per capita - globally!
Smart thing would be to make a plan for development to have something once the natural resources run out.
What did they do?
Excessive spending, corruption and bad management left NOTHING of it behind. By now they get development aid!
It's not really a fun joke, but definitely tragically comical. And I for one have the feeling that humanity overall is not behaving that much differently when it comes to the global resources. Except that Nauru is tiny and you can put all of them on some ships and relocate them to Australia...
