Old habits die hard.

One more year of the Eurozone quagmire will teach 'em.

No it won't. They feel smug for what they regard as more humane working hours and the US feels smug for being an economic tour de force. Same as it ever was.

Bit of trivia for you - Name the 3 states, and only 3 states, who do not permit shopping on Thanksgiving day. I was surprised myself.

Not surprised to find them in New England - blue laws have always been strong there. Wouldn't expect to see them in right to work states anyway.

Maine, Mass. And CT., right

Maine, Mass and RI was what they said on the news last night. It seems hard to pin down with Google, though an NYT article from last year lists these three. It's interesting nonetheless and I'm happy they're holding out but, if shoppers all head to NH for the sales in addition to tax-free shopping, MA retailers might make it difficult for them to hold onto that, particularly if they make it a voluntary shift for the workers who will get holiday pay for the hours worked. When I was younger, had I been working retail, I might have jumped at the opportunity to make more money and escape after the family meal.

Don't care for b.f. either. But at least they have proper sales overthere.

Re: Black Friday - Once again my country descending into disgraceful madness

Every now and then I'll wander to the mall and get pjs for the kids hours after the madness has ended. Usually we just stay at home for cyber-monday.

On a side note, my pregnant cousin was hit in the head with a dvd player at a bf sale!! madness. That's the day I swore I'd never go into it... never have.

Re: Black Friday - Once again my country descending into disgraceful madness

I heard about a lady that hired professional bodyguards to escort her through the rush one time. I bet that went over like a lead balloon...
