Re: How long till we hear this in Switzerland?

We witnessed racism two weeks ago. My husband and I were on a local bus from Broc Village ( went to the Cailler chocolate factory) that went for over 1 hr high in the mountains, stopping in various small villages. At one stop, there was a group of 3 or 4 black men waiting at the bus stop. The bus driver just ignored them and did not stop. They were waving at the bus but he just kept driving. A the terminal stop he just chatted to a few old people who were with us on the bus in Swiss German, so I could not understand much what he said but it was about English speakers and black people.

No. How can I report him? Should I call the police next time?

I have to say we were really shocked.

Re: How long till we hear this in Switzerland?

they should stick people like that on the LIRR from the Island to Grand Central. by the Jamaica Queens stop I'm pretty sure the good folks on the train would have taken care of the situation in the appropriate manner.

why not? People in Switzerland call the police for less serious offenses all the time! You could also report him to his manager.

You take the bus number plate, make a note of date and time, and contact Post Office with details. I wouldn't hesitate - blatant discrimination needs addressing. Shame that none of the Swiss people on the bus tackled him.

Re: How long till we hear this in Switzerland?

I'll definitely do it if I witness anything like that again.
It wasn't a post bus (not a yellow one) but some other local bus in Canton Fribourg.

Not sure who you are calling "the new Palin" but she comes across as a control freak. It's none of her business what language her fellow
students are conversing in. UCLA is known for its diverse body of
students.

Re: How long till we hear this in Switzerland?

I live in Bern. I am an Asian but I dont look like one....and generally people think me as Spanish. So on a Saturday night, me and two of my Asian friends wanted to get into a bar, but we were turned down by at least two places...saying its a private party...you need reservation blah blah......and that we were not dressed appropriately.

The way we were being treated, I could feel that we were being racially screened but somehow we were not sure until I saw this video which is exactly how we were treated.

This is actually happening in Switzerland now, albeit very very rarely, Im sure you have all kinds of these idiots everywhere you go. At least from what my Swiss bf translated to me, we heard a man on a tram once towards Central, Zürich apparently ranting on about how many foreigners are in the country now ''he apparently did not specifically say ''his'' country'' and how they should all go home and leave Switzerland alone.....
Here in Geneva there's a woman who has made it her life's work to walk up and down the Rues Basses bellowing at the top of her voice about the immigrant threat and taking back Switzerland for the Swiss. She is treated entirely as a curiosity, AFAICT.
