| | Re: Iranians attack & enter British Embassy in Tehran | Quote: | | | | I was talking about the (lack of) capability of Iran to launch a military attack not an attack on Iran.
Of course Iran could, for example, close the Gulf of Hormuz but most military strategy forecasts see it open again in a month (would be a full scale war ). | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | Go (in the evening) to Muscat Airport, the Indian restaurant in the 2nd floor, overlooking the Indian Ocean. You will see an endless stream of tankers heading out from the Arabian Gulf .... one behind the other. A month ?! of closure would be horror for the world economy, most of all in Europe. Already bought a bycicle ? If yes , good, because your car with a petrol price of CHF 15.85 per liter may no longer be what it used to be and the situation would/will not get back to normal so swiftly | | | | | It would be an act of great desperation for Iran to close the Gulf of Hormuz; it would likely cause them to be attacked by most of the world's countries to make them an example of what happens to countries that disrupt major world trade.
The impact on the world economy would very much depend on the time of year, the quantity of emergency oil reserves held by the major oil customers & their willingness to use these reserves.

The impact on the world economy would very much depend on the time of year, the quantity of emergency oil reserves held by the major oil customers & their willingness to use these reserves. | | | | | Such a thing will only happen if Iran gets under full attack and gets pushed into greatest desperation, as also the Iranian oil exports use the Straights of Hormuz.
It is the other way round, as it would be their reaction by placing an example of what happens if somebody attacks Iran
The impact may depend on the time of the year, sure. But this is not in the hands of the Iranians but in the hands of whomever decides to attack Iran

Really? | | | | | Well here is a list of oil importers who would all be effected, either directly because delivery contracts could not be fulfilled or indirectly by the price of oil rising to crisis levels; https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat.../2175rank.html |

Reports on the wire that Iran has claimed to have shot down an RQ-170 Sentinel recon drone over its national territory. The Allies have claimed that they lost a UAV last Thursday, but hadn't specified a type. The RQ-170 is a Lockheed product and one of the most advanced and least known about "black projects" that the USA has in its arsenal.
