Beagles used for lab testing released

A happy ending for some beautiful beagles after a Spanish lab went out of business.
Just a few of the 72 which were used for testing products are shown in the video tasting freedom for the first time. The ARME are wonderful people!
I cried when I watched the video, I defy you not to.

I take it this wasn't medical testing then?

I worked for a company that had a contract with a company that did medical drug tests on beagles, and had the misfortune of having to visit one of the labs, outside the lab door I could hear the dog barking, moving around etc but as soon as I opened the door they all shut up and cowered at the back of there cages, petrified of humans, that was a pretty hard moment.

After the tests the dogs where put down, that was the law at the time iirc, a assume it still is now.

I gather they were used for product testing, thankfully didn't seem as traumatised as the poor dogs you talk about. Maybe the lab in Spain closed before they got so bad. :msnsad:

That video is heartwarming... thanks for posting it, Hannah's Auntie.

FYI, if anyone is interested in learning more about released laboratory beagles (and other animals), there are some admirable rescue groups in Germany dedicated to helping and rehoming these dogs:

I read about it but I can't watch any videos or I'll have to start adopting puppies. And we all know how the Swiss feel about foreign dogs with social anxiety issues. Especially ones that bark like Beagles. Oy!

Thanks for the links Meloncollie.
I just had a look and saw that the third one down, the laborbeaglehilfe.de, has some of the Spanish beagles there. This is a video of two of them, Burtie and Poldi...

Meloncollie, do you know of any animal rescue groups here in Switzerland?
