Arizona Ueber Conservatives win again!

Arizona Senate Passes Bill Allowing Doctors To Not Inform Women Of Prenatal Issues To Prevent Aborti
www.addictinginfo.orgIt's called a 'wrongful birth' bill and it's all about preventing women from having an abortion, even if it kills them. The Arizona Senate passed a bill this week that gives doctors a free pass to not inform pregnant women of prenatal problems because such information could lead to an abortion.

Thanks to Edot for publishing this elsewhere. In my book this ueber Conservative religious influence on the law is bordering on the criminal. I am glad we live in a country which often is accused of being Conservative, but where this would be totally impossible. If a woman has an ectopic pregancy for instance, the Dr could choose not to tell her and allow this very dangerous, but almost doomed event to continue until tubes burst and risk killing the woman.

Yeah. I hate when politics and religion dictate medical care. They do already, i know. And if docs feel threatened, already under served areas will be worse off. Well, plus it's a violation of the Hippocratic oath.

Anyway, I gather it has more to do with legal responsibility, but offering legal protection for telling only a part of the story makes me squirm. You know, it's only been in the last 40-50 years that we've become more open with patients. Back to the 1950's.
